I read this a lot faster than I'm used to because I'm just in one of those funks where you just read whatever sounds even remotely good. That may totally make my opinion a bit less optimistic than usual. The thing is, when I went for his book, I was thinking of a whole different kind of mismatched couple - more like what I expect from Kaye and Sawyer, which I can't wait to read next.
This was sweet, and perfectly cool to read, but Harper really annoyed me, particularly in the first half of the book.
Brody was OK, but though Jennifer gave him some depth, I always expected just a bit more that never came.
What I do think is very positive about this book is that it doesn't give that impression that high school sweethearts always end up together, which is what you see in most novels of this genre, but not really in real life.
On the next one!

A quick bit of fluff in a standard YA romance format. The reason I didn't rate it higher is
Spoilerthe inevitable breakup called for by the formula was so STUPID. It felt like it was there only to follow the formula i.e. so they could get back together.

After reading Biggest Flirts, I was somewhat excited to read this one because whilst Biggest Flirts wasn’t my favourite romance novel, this one sounded great. Anyone who knows me will know that I’m a sucker for romantic books and movies(which is quite surprising if you know me in real life and you know how cynical I am about love) and I will enjoy most romance books I read because while they aren’t the best books in the world, they are incredibly addictive and heart warming. This one was no exception. I read this one in less than 24 hours because once I started, I just wanted to keep reading. It’s weird how the most gripping books for me are romances because I become much more invested in the couple and I want to know more about what happens.

Harper was a great female lead. At the start, I was slightly irritated because she was a little bit obsessed with Brody but after a while I really grew to like her. She was clever and her love for photography was really interesting to read about.

Jennifer Echols is one of the best YA Contemporary Authors out there, and if you've picked up just one of her novels, you would know that straight from the start. Her mix of humor, romance and capturing the drama and realistic aspects of life in High School are just a few of the things that make me love the Superlatives series in particular.
The second book in the Superlatives series is Perfect Couple, which is my favourite so far. Harper is yearbook photographer and it's her job to capture the memories of the times that everyone will one day look back on. She's great at that, except her life is anything as perfect as the pictures she takes. Her parents divorce have left her at a loss for any relationship in her own life even though the senior class voted her and Brody, the quarterback, "The Perfect Couple That Never Was". Harper can't see herself with him, even though her friends pester her to ask him out.
Although Brody is startled as to why they were deemed a "Perfect Couple" too. They're opposites, and have nothing in common. Except being labelled as the Perfect Couple That Never Was, that is. And that's what ignites the fire between them, the hesitation over their senior class giving them this label, and then, they discover that maybe they're not as far apart as they thought. But even the "Perfect Couple" get lost along the way and Harper and Brody do before long. Still, they can't seem to forget each other no matter what's happening in their lives. Almost like a magnetic pull, they can't seem to stay away from each other in thoughts or in person.
Perfect Couple was everything I expected it to be. Dramatic, realistic and utterly flawless. Jennifer never fails to deliver a romance that swoons, surprises and lights up like fireworks on the pages. Anything less than five-stars would be criminal.

Received a copy from the publisher via Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review.

How have I not ready anything by Jennifer Echols before??? I own 2 or 3 of her books that I meant to check out, but simply never got around to it. She seriously rocks! SO glad I got the opportunity to give this book a read.

PERFECT COUPLE is a heap of fun. I took it down in less than 12 hours. The characters are adorable, the chemistry is awesome and there was some great heat between Harper and Brody. I love the buildup and the progression of their relationship. Although it turns out this book is part of a series, I didn't realize that until after I finished the book. It reads perfectly as a standalone. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series. If you're looking for a quick and yummy read check it out!

Cutesy, as I expected. Very light and fluffy read, which isn't a bad thing at all. Sometimes you need something light and airy.

Harper was sweet if a little misguided because she had some self esteem issues. Her boyfriend is emotionally manipulative and makes her cower and as soon as popular jock Brody shows her some attention, she's all about keeping it, which led to some questionable behavior. Changing the way she dressed and acted? But, as Lorelai Gilmore so eloquently said, "Once your heart is involved, everything comes out in Moron."
