Overall I enjoyed the story. 3 stars for poor grammar and bad word choice- specifically often using the same word several times within a few sentences. I'm hooked into the characters, though, and do want to find out what happens next!

The author's writing style is a struggle for me. In desperate need of a thesaurus, continually using the same descriptive words. The story itself it wonderful but she forces far too many climactic events on nearly ever chapter giving the story a very predictive unimaginative flow. I am only suffering thru because i'm invested in the characters.

I am generously giving this series 3 stars because the story itself is good... but oh baby jeebus on a stick is it rough to read with its abysmal lack of editing and every character-section ending with a CLIFFHANGER! I am also getting really tired of the deus ex machina 'saves'.

A great follow-up to Rise of the Dragons! I love following the adventure and each person's storyline. We go back to each often enough that it isn't difficult to remember what each person is doing. 4.5 stars. The only thing keeping me from going five-stars is that the wording is repetitive in places

“It is not loyalty and devotion that make a man. It is knowing who to be loyal to—and when.”
We continue the journey with Kyra in this installment and head towards the tower of Ur to get more answers about herself. To see why she’s the way she is and where she comes from. There are more Povs in this one, but not from new characters, everyone is on their own journey and I gobbled it up.
I don’t care what any of these reviews say… this was EPIC. I loved every minute of it! From amazing unique creatures, exciting battles, family, dragons, trolls and characters facing impossible situations-this was an awesome adventure.
To me this book was like a mixture of all my favorites in one. There were certain themes and parts that reminded me of GOT, The Banished Lands, The Last Kingdom, The Witcher all wrapped up and tied with a bow . I was planning on only reading a little and found myself binging the entire thing because every chapter had me on the edge of my seat holding my breath.
The writing is simple and light but at times feels like an Epic Fantasy. I am listening to the audiobook (the narrator is fantastic) and it’s what I would recommend- because from the reviews, there seems to be an editing issue with the physical books. I love the characters and they are growing with each book in the series. The friendships that each main character has are fantastic, making the side characters shine all on their own. This cliffhanger has me wanting to jump head first into book 3. I really hope this doesn’t lose its momentum because, if you couldn’t tell- I’m absolutely loving this journey so far!

Every other chapter had some kind of imminent death cliffhanger. It got very tedious very fast.

This book left me massively disappointed, because underneath there is a fairly interesting story which is overwhelmingly obscured by repetitiveness.
I have never rolled my eyes, sighed, or just plain put down the book out of sheer frustration as much - ever. The only reason I finished the book was my partner had and he reads so little I wanted to discuss with him.
Every second chapter ends with one of the characters about to die, SO tedious! Also how many times do I have to read that the (good) warriors are the toughest, the most loyal blah blah blah....I got it the first 5 times.
