Sophie's kidnapping is based on the fact that she might tell someone that giants exist and then they'd be hunted down, but later they have to go through a lot of trouble in order to actually convince someone that giants are real. :|

The whole BFG weird speech was interesting at first, but as the story progressed, it became more and more annoying.

Also, why is no one acknowledging Sophie's Stockholm syndrome?

What a lovely book. If I’m lucky enough to have a son or daughter one day, I’ll look forward to reading this book to him or her.

Fun little story. Somehow I missed it when I was younger.

The late Natasha Richardson does a wonderful job reading this book, but it's still one of my least favorite by one of my favorite authors. As an adult, I notice some of the less PC issues--girls and boys dreams are different, it's okay if the giants eat people from Turkey, but when Sophia realizes they also eat WASPs then it's on, people disappearing in the Middle East seems perfectly normal. Regardless of its flaws, the fun wordplay and the fearless Sophie make it worth a read/listen.

I liked it, but I got a little tired of the BFG’s malapropisms and invented wordplay. The last third of the story went a lot better, and nearly saved it.

It’s not my favorite of his books. But it’s cute enough, especially for kids

I read this book as a child and it fun to read it with my son.  We both really enjoyed it! I love sharing these experiences with my oldest!
