Unlike a lot of others here I didn’t read Megan’s first book, although I might now. The book was pretty good, had some great suspenseful moments, in fact I had to sleep with my light on one night because I was reading it. But the ending just left me unimpressed. I think there was much more that could have been told, that could have been revealed. All in all a decent read but I wish the ending had lived up to the rest of the book.

Something about Megan Miranda’s thrillers makes them super entertaining and quick reads for me. In the Perfect Stranger, the MC acted based on instinct or her feelings sometimes, but wasn’t stupid and made for an interesting character. Her missing friend, Emmy, haunted the pages through flashbacks and lingering traces of her presence in the house they shared, despite vanishing before the story opened.
The story ended well for Leah, which I do appreciate in a thriller. However, some parts of the reveal didn’t fully track, or maybe I just didn’t understand them, like when she found out Emmy and Bethany were conspiring to steal Leah’s identity, even after Bethany was already out of jail and had a steady job in their town
but I can overlook that as it wasn’t hugely important as most of the truth had already been revealed at that point. I also loved the atmosphere and setting of this book, as it was very bleak and on edge from Leah’s home to the school where she worked, which upped the eeriness of the events.

Enjoyable summer read, I enjoyed the suspense. I figured out some of the twists, but not all!

A very detailed and twisted plot of murder, that will have you guessing till the end.....

Leah is running. She is running away from her past. A past that haunts her and ruined her career in journalism. Upon the journey to a new start, Leah tags along with her friend Emmy on what is supposed to be a spontaneous choice. A dart thrown at a map lands Leah in rural Pennsylvania and unaware of the secrets that lie in wait.

When a woman winds up attacked and left for dead, Leah discovers that her roommate Emmy is missing as well. With no clues but a broken necklace to guide her, Leah turns to Kyle Don0van to help her in the search of Emmy. But along the way she discovers something much more sinister has happened and all the clues point to her.

Overall this book was a twisted ride. The story plot was laid out well and the timeline jumps back and forth between the present and past. We get small clues along the way to help us solve the mystery along with our main character. The book has several characters who seem to be dark shady people, not to mention the small town mentality that the book is set in.

The story flowed nicely and I was bummed at the ending, expecting a bit of action, but was satisfied with it. If you love a twisted mystery then this book is perfect for you. It is full of mysterious and dark characters with loads of deception. What a way to write a murder mystery than with a ton of lies and deceit. The perfect combinations.
