Holy cringe. The vampire romance genre clearly is not for me...Even if it is written by an author I love.

Ummm...I like Meg Cabot and I’m ok with vampires but this was just ok. The main character Meena, isn’t as annoying as twilight, etc. but she wasn’t really great either. Book was longer than necessary and still didn’t really feel finished at the end. No in a good way. I felt like after all that, we needed some resolution. Oh well.

This book was not really what I expected. I've read a lot of Meg Cabot books and this is unlike any of the others. The title, Insatiable, refers to a soap opera the main character writes for but the book is not about the soap opera -- at least not really. The books is about vampires. Vampire boyfriends, vampire coworkers, Palantine guard vampire hunters, etc. Don't get me wrong, the book was good, just not what I expected.

Vampires in POV of Meg cabot is a bit better than the usual vampire stories... And also Meena is believable too. Good read indeed!

I really enjoyed this book. The review gives you a very interesting insight to what happens in the book... I was captivated by the abilities and choices of the characters... Even if some annoyed me to no end (ehem... Meena's bother -oh, sorry- brother Jon) I think this is a book for both the people who are in love with the vampire phenomenon and for those who are totally against it...
I believe Meg Cabot brought to us a new kind of vampire novel, without necessarily taking out the characteristics of the typical one. We have the girl who fell in love with a vampire and there's this vampire hunter who wants the girl to turn her lover in... Mix in some more captivating details that said vampire is actually Dracula's son. But it also points out the obvious and somehow tedious aspects of the phenomenon vampirism has brought into the decade. Like their remarkable good looks, and the restraint they need to not have their lovers for a meal.
I thoroughly enjoyed this books and was biting my nails whenever Lucien didn't appear for too long.. So for either Twi-lovers or haters, I recommend this book, of Course as long as you like medium paced vampire story with a little psychic abilities mixed within.

Meena Harper hates vampires. Or the idea of them, anyway, since everyone knows vampires don’t exist. The thought is just ridiculous. Meena herself, it turns out, know when you’re going to die. She has psychic visions of a person’s death. That’s entirely possible, but vampires? Psssshhh... ridiculous. 😂
Meena is a New York writer who supports her unemployed brother while he “gets back on his feet”. She is incredibly annoyed to discover that the soap opera she writes for is going vamp. In order to develop ideas for the new direction of her work, she attends the dinner party of her wealthy, socialite neighbor Mary Lou. The night before the party, she takes her dog for a walk AT FOUR AM and (surprise, surprise) is attacked. Ever the hero, Lucian Antonescu saves her and escorts her safely home. The night of the dinner party, she discovers- gasp- Lucian is the very prince that is being honored at the dinner party she is attending. Insta-love ensues.
Soon enters the third leg of the love triangle, Palatine guard Alaric Wulf. Alaric (like every other character named Alaric in a vampire story EVER) is a vampire hunter, who assaults Meena in her apartment in order to get information about Lucien. Does Meena’s mooching brother, Jon, come to her rescue when he arrives home in the middle of said assault? No, he sucks up to Alaric in an attempt to join the guard.
I could carry on with all the cliche, ridiculous, unrealistic responses of the characters in different situations, but I won’t.
All that to say, I actually did enjoy the book. I appreciated how she did not run desperately into Lucien’s arms at the end of the story. I feel like this could be a stand alone book, and I’m afraid to read the next one because it could very potentially kill the story for me. It’s still on my to-read list, but I am hesitant to pick it up.
Happy reading, friends!

I thought it held several stereotypes concerning vampire love stories even though it was supposed to be very anti Vampire Love story. I didn't like the ending...but I know that she's going to continue with a follow up book. It lacked the usual charm that Meg's books have. It felt rushed and overly sarcastic. Not her best work but I still enjoyed it.

i love meg cabot. it was the perfect blend of romance and real vampire lore. i liked that she also had powers and her life didn't revolve completely around the vampire.
