Too many monologues between small scenes. I found myself annoyed and just wanted to get back to the dialogue and story. The book is less than 300 pages and I feel like the author is just using fillers at this point. But the author does know how to build tension and suspense. I was nervous for the mfc for a few chapters. My eyebrows and heart rate went up in some chapters. I even found myself yelling at the characters in my head. If you could see all my annotations to the dialogues and scenes. I love that you can see the character growth and development, even though this book is more serious in the storyline, there’s still the lightheartedness you love to see from these characters. The flirting in this book between Tristan and Morana has me laughing and giggling.

The first few chapters of the book were slow and annoying, but as you keep reading it got more intense with more dialogue and less monologues. The storyline also picked up a lot as well the constant twists that I was prepared for but also not prepared for. The playlist for this book is also top notch and will now be listening to it during all mafia-related books. On to the next book in the series!

Just amazing! Like what a great read. Ugh, I really loved Mariana and Tristan. I wish the rest of the books followed them as well, but I am excited to read about Dante and Amara.

Something that irked me was how they talked about "the codes." My husband and I both write code for our jobs (software engineer & data analyst), and I've genuinely never heard of someone talking about a really important computer program as "the codes." It just seemed to downplay the significance of it, but that might just be a me thing. Also, the fact that she really didn't spend that much time writing code felt odd because it just wasn't realistic. You can't just sit for a couple of hours and poof there's a super cool computer program
to take down the highest governments, mafias, etc.
. Not even for a person with a really high IQ. It just felt unreasonable. But otherwise, what a great book!

Also, the ending was really fast. It felt rushed. I could have used a couple more chapters at the end, but again, what a great book.

The slow unfurling of the mysteries and the slow unfurling of the relationships are well done despite some very dark background context.

I loved it.
It was the perfect “conclusion” for Morana and Tristan journey.
(Even though it remains some dark spots in the story - to be continued)

You can see a really improvement in the writting between the first book and this one. It is also a good surprise and it added a real + to my reading.

something about this series just scratches the itch in my brain just right. like, i loved it. i wish i could erase it from my brain and then read it for the first time again. there were so many cute moments in this book; tristan and morana are so special to me.

to be honest i’m not mad at tristan’s lack of ability to outwardly express his emotions or to communicate because he has spent the majority of his life being a brick wall, saying nothing and showing no emotion, so i feel like it wouldn’t be easy for him to just break that habit. there are several instance in which he expresses himself or shows he cares for morana through his actions even if he doesn’t use words to say how he feels.

also, something i like about this series is that aside from the romance aspect there is a continuous storyline like with the alliance and now the syndicate. it feels like a big mystery that we are unraveling with each book

anyway, i loved the predator and the reaper. i’m going to miss tristan and morana, but i’m excited for the rest of the series!!
