The dream part was interesting, but all the stuff about demons was not my style. In all fairness though, I shouldn't have been surprised, given the mention of dark magic on the cover.

A fun romp through dreams! I really like Liv. She is smart and sassy. Henry is a good match . . . If he is who we think he is! The unleashing a demon part of the plot is a little underdeveloped in this book, but the story is not over! And we needed a good reason to visit the dreams; that is as good a reason as any! I like this kind of fantasy where we are still in our known world, but we see another world underneath. In this case, we see where we go when we dream. I will recommend to fans of Maggie Steivater and Maureen Johnson's Shades of London series.

I really liked it, and recommend it to anyone who like fantasy novels and to people who wish they have the power to manipulate or shape their dreams as they like. Because who doesn't want to see Henry Cavill physically in her dreams, I would want it, since I can't see him in real life. Why not?
And I wanted to thank the author for reminding me that some words more important and beautiful when they're spoken.

Yes. Loved it. Can't wait for Book 2! (Also, I now have a German folk song stuck in my head that I hadn't thought of in more than a decade. Still know the melody! So that's pretty great.)
The first book in a new series by [b:Ruby Red|8835379|Ruby Red (Precious Stone Trilogy, #1)|Kerstin Gier|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1312036605s/8835379.jpg|6510846] author Kerstin Gier, [b:Dream a Little Dream|21469090|Dream a Little Dream (Silber, #1)|Kerstin Gier|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1408645749s/21469090.jpg|24501753] follows Liv Silver as she and her sister begin what they hope will be a more permanently-settled life in England with their wandering-Academic American mother. Of course, things don't go exactly to plan. It begins with the foursome of beautiful, mysterious boys at Liv's school, percolates with some really curious dreams, and sparks with a mysterious and creepy ritual swearing-of-an-oath. And, of course, because this is Kerstin Gier we're talking about, there's a well-paced romance with plenty of witty dialogue to boot.
Liv's character is wonderfully self-possessed and clever. Supporting characters like Liv's mother and au pair are well-written and entertaining. Story components are well-balanced, making this a quick and lively read.
[a:Kerstin Gier|298438|Kerstin Gier|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1276520835p2/298438.jpg] is the best-kept secret of the YA world. Her witty banter, memorable characters, and kooky-yet-accessible stories are sure to win-over even reluctant readers. Highly recommended. (Would recommend for fans of [a:Maggie Stiefvater|1330292|Maggie Stiefvater|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1384827512p2/1330292.jpg]).
I received an advance reader copy of this title in exchange for an honest review. Thanks, Henry Holt and Co. (BYR) and NetGalley!
