I was not amazed by Kerstin Gier's Ruby Red even though I thoroughly enjoyed the film adaptation. And here comes Dream a Little Dream I genuinely enjoyed it. It started out fantastic. The humor is so refreshing. We have a quirky protagonist and interesting supporting characters.
What went wrong?
The story dragged at the last 80 pages or so. This is one of my many reading pet peeves. The book could start as sluggish as it could get as long as the story will continue to get better as it progress. Sadly Dream a Little Dream faltered in the mid-ending.
There are some obnoxious and annoying parts I could not ignored per instances the erroneous characterization. I am not asking for the characters to be perfect, I am looking at them to be humanly as possible, rich with persona and purpose.
One thing I noticed about reading a translated book is they can be so sloppy. Sometimes the text, paragraph and dialogues doesn't come off as natural. They seem so awkward.
Dream a Little Dream is intriguing and engrossing. I just wish some of the things could have executed better.
A thorough review to come closer to release date.

I'm honestly surprised by how much I liked this! It wasn't overly cliché, there was no love triangle, the main character was super likeable... Will definitely continue with the series.
Edit: Still holds up pretty well with the second read!
