I was slightly shocked by how much of a copy of Doug Unplugged this book was.

Blip the robot discovers the joy of unplugging once and awhile, even though being plugged into her computer is tons of fun. Adorable illustrations accompany the sparse text of this delightful and direct book. Readers may also enjoy "It's a Book" by Lane Smith or "Norton and Alpha" by Kristyna Litten - Alexis S.

This is an adorable book about Blip who is plugged into the internet all day long. One day, Blip becomes unplugged after a blackout and discovers the outside world. Blip makes friends with some animals and sees that there's more to the world than what's online. It's straightforward and obviously a lesson that you should take time to unplug from technology every once in a while. The illustrations were also pretty cute.

This book has such a great message that people of ALL AGES needs to hear-the importance of unplugging. I loved the use of and/or absence of color on the pages depending on if the robot was plugged or unplugged. I cannot say enough good things about this picture book!

Age: Toddler-Preschool
Familiar Experience: Tech overload,
Making his first friends and interacting with real, tangible objects, Blip finds out how fun the outside world is after it's disconnected from its mainframe. Nothing really new but nothing really bad. The illustrations are nice.

The art is charming - but it gets badly wounded by the text design, to my eyes. Maintaining clear readability for new readers is important, but...it has to be doable in more elegant ways than this.
Storywise, I think it suffices to say it's for the very young, who will probably be able to follow along without great stumbling blocks. (And crafting that kind of text is also a skill, I'm not being derogatory, but also: this isn't one of those kid stories that'll captivate older audiences)

A wonderful, beautiful picture book for children of the digital age. Five stars for beautiful art, an original story that will resonate with readers, and a perfect length.

The story of Blip feels very similar to life with my kids. Blip is a robot who loves to be plugged into her computer, but one day Blip needs to be unplugged and has to entertain themselves. Blip finds out all the fun things they can do when they are unplugged. It was a fitting story for our summer vacation and a great reminder to unplug and find different types of fun.
