Addie Greyborne is a bookstore owner who attends a local estate sale. She runs into an old family friend who puts her past experience in rare books to work cataloging a final room/library before a big sale.

It had been a while since I read, Murder in the First, Beyond the Page Mystery, #3 in the series, and could not recall all of the backstories. I paused to go back. Once I got through the return Police Chief Marc Chandler, the lack of backstory bothered me less. Glad that triangle is on the back burner, possibly solved for now.

Addie has a smartphone that she uses for a flashlight but doesn’t take pictures, instead takes the evidence with her. UGH! Some new characters introduced and curious about where things will go with them in future books.

Happy Reading!

Searching for more books to stock her store before the first cruise ship docks in her town, Addie Greyborne heads out to an auction at a local so-called haunted house to survey the offerings. There, she runs into a colleague who enlists her help in cataloging the books. Everything is fine until the next morning when the woman she was assisting is found dead in a locked room. Even though this was the first I've read in the series, I did not feel the need to have read others to enjoy this one. The mystery was interesting, as were the characters and their relationships. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

With Proof of Murder, I have read all 4 books in the Beyond the Page Bookstore Mystery Series. While I enjoyed the first two, I admit that I found the third a bit of a slog. I'm happy to say that this fourth book has brought the series back on track. In her personal life, Addie has made a choice (and no more love triangle nonsense to deal with), and professionally her bookstore is flourishing. In this outing, Addie is confronted with a locked-room murder mystery and the disappearance of some rare Sherlock Holmes books--that she may be the only one to have seen.

Addie is quickly named as the prime suspect in the untimely death of an unlikable appraiser, and must use her sleuthing skills to clear her name and identify the real culprit. Good, engaging read; I finished it in a day and was satisfied with the outcome. Recommended for all fans of cozies.

Thanks to NetGalley and Kensington Books for a digital ARC.

3. 5 Smart and interesting mystery. The resolution of the main character's love triangle was annoying. I just didn't care to hear her drone on about someone who seemed like a complete jerk. The main character is a little stiff, but not totally insufferable.

Interesting to learn a bit about old books.

I love it when I learn some rtf hung while reading. Learning a bit about the ways books are annotated by the publishers makes this book more interesting. I shall start looking at the cover pagez.

Addie finds herself helping out an old companion with an Insurance Appraisal for an old haunted estate. Addie ex-boyfriend Chief Marc Chandler shows up at the scene of another murder where Addie finds herself with his new girlfriend Agent Ryley Brookes. Now Addie is the number one suspect and not even Marc is taking her side. As much as she wants to start out of this one she keeps being pulled back in because it is not just murder they toke valuable books.
I am a new fan of Lauren Elliot but I have read all four of the books in four months. I absolutely have fallen for her character Addie. I relate to her on so many levels. I really think it is worth your time and money to pick this up. This is a series you can read them alone but you should read them through starting at Murder By The Book.
