obviously I love this series. this one does a lot right, as usual, but really misses the mark with the two simultaneous stories. usually the storylines complement one another so well but these ones were a bit too similar or something. just confused me and made the ending seem too farfetched for even my gravity-defying disbelief suspension abilities.

Taková dobrá detektivka, nic víc, ale nic míň.
Co zamrzí, je dost velké množství tiskových chyb.

Real score 4.49. Really liked the writing style of one of the penultimate chapters and the guessing that came with it, especially in the face of the Ellen situation. More would give it away. I think you’ll know what I mean.

There's a lot going on, and I'm not sure I followed it all, but I got enough. Høle is a delightful character when you don't have to work with him.

Overall, I thought this mystery was OK. There were some points where I was really impressed by Nesbo's (or the translator's) way with words and the artistry of it all, but at other times I found it a bit choppy and hard to follow. This could be a translation problem, but the chances of me ever reading it in the original are slim to none. I'd be willing to read other Harry Hole novels, but I wouldn't go out of my way to get my hands on them.
