The thread of this mystery that dealt with the bank robbery and the death of the bank teller was intricate and puzzling, and the resolution was ingenious and satisfying. The other thread, the one that dealt with the death of Harry Hole's old girlfriend was intricate and puzzling, but the resolution was completely outside the realm of plausibility, and I felt cheated.

inventive read

Twists and turns kept me reading and guessing at a rapid pace. Fascinating cast of characters. Could be a travelogue for Norway. Great read.

I dearly love Mr Nesbo and Mr Hole both, however Nemesis I felt was an underachiever. The story revolves around an intricate plot to disguise a murder as a bank robbery, and implicate Harry as a suspect.

While this may sound suitably fascinating and complex the majority of the story is too much yak and not enough action. Normally I wouldn't complain about a lack of focus on a detective's love life, but Harry usually delivers on this and didn't in this book. Nor does he go off on any sort of bender or at least struggle with his demons (which I guess can't happen every novel, but is still missed)

A tiny amount of page time on enemy Tom W was not enough to maintain interest in the ongoing neo-nazi plot. The finale almost redeems the novel but at 700~ pages one needs more than a good ending.

I did not enjoy this one as much as I did The Snowman. It might have been the translation, though.

I picked up some of Jo Nesbø's books that have been translated to English. I'm not sure if I'm reading them in the correct order, but I enjoy them, no matter what.

interesting story, but confusing writing. too many things going on at the same time, and the author, i'm sure, was trying to be suspenseful, but just made it hard to figure out what was going on. it may have been because of the translation from Norwegian to English, but i think it was also the style of writing. toward the end, i was just looking forward to finishing it so i could move on to the next book on my pile.

I believe there are some things that a written as a movie script, this novel is one of them. Albeit an okay, the constant non-description dialogue left little for the imagination…

A thrilling drama or a dramatic thriller. Again a lot goes on in yet another Harry Hole book. I'm glad this time I read the physical book instead of listening to the audiobook. It definitely makes it a bit easier to keep straight what's going on, and who's where, when doing what. We have two storylines, both very engaging. I could just feel Harry's despair and frustration. Looking forward to the next book.
