Oh I forking LOVE Charlie, she is the badass heroine we all need. As for Daniel, what a great man (well of course until he F’s up). You have a little mystery thrown in as well as some hot AF sexy times. Yes Please! Don’t forget those side characters that you (if like me) want more of. Hello ROB!!!

You will cry. You will laugh. You will want to punch characters. You will want to shake some too. Then you’ll want to hug and snuggle them.

First, can I just say how in awe I am at @kellyfinleyauthor? Pierce Her is another debut novel and I just can't wrap my head around having a dream of writing a novel and then actually publishing it. Completely amazing.

Charlie is an ex-marine turned private security who is tasked with protecting a young actress on set. She finds it hard to keep her focus with a delicious costar named Daniel Pierce on set and things get STEAMY. There is romance, suspense, action and drama all in one. Exactly what you want if you aren't into just straight-up dramatic romance.

I give this 3.5 stars. The story line was good. That is what made me want to read it. Charlie is ex-military with some demons and she works for a security firm. She is good at her job. Her new assignment is to protect a young actress who is being stalked on set. Daniel is her co-star who is instantly drawn to Charlie and has some secrets of his own. The constant over use of names/pet names is a pet peeve of mine, and this was done too much with the scenes between Charlie and Daniel. I would have loved to have had more of the stalker aspect and little less of the Charlie/Daniel aspect. Not to say I don't appreciate their story, because I do, I just would have liked to have had the stalker story more in the forefront. That being said, I want to know what Daniel is hiding so I will be reading the next book!

While it is rare to have a female bodyguard, it is even more rare that she would be former military. Charlie Ravenel is that rarity. Charlie is the war hero, who didn't just come back with scars of an operation that ended in gun fire, she lost so much more. Some of her scars aren't fully healed even if they are the kind that you can't see with your eyes.

Charlie Ravenel, a former Marine is sent in to protect a young actress Kierra, who has been receiving messages from a stalker.

While Charlie is there to find out who is behind the messages, she can't help but be in the vicinity of Daniel Pierce the male lead actor. While she is attracted to him, she has a history that makes it hard for her to give in to him. While Daniel has had his share of women he's been tied to in the press there is just something about Charlie, making him want to do things differently.

He wants to build her trust, and get her to see he is willing to wait, and gain her trust. This does lead to a bit of a slow burn while they get to know each other, it does build a lot of amazing tension.

With each note left for Kierra, or item taken the suspense is heightened and Charlie's determination to keep her safe builds.

I loved some of the text conversations between Charlie and Daniel, it was flirty but also built their connection. When they finally give in to their attraction on a week away, it is explosive and steamy!

There are some parts of Charlie's history that is detailed and can be triggering but also culturally sensitive regarding young brides and rape so please be aware.

While the stalker is revealed and there is a wrap up of that story there are still some elements that weren't revealed regarding Daniel's past so it felt a bit like a cliffhanger, which will continue on into Book 2.

With that said, this book packed a punch. It took me through a whole gamut of emotions and kept me on the edge of my seat. I look forward to continuing the series.

I received an arc from the author for review. All opinions are my own and given freely.

This one is fun because Charlie is a badass and she’s the protector here. She’s protecting a young starlet from a dangerous stalker when she meets movie star Daniel Pierce. There’s an instant attraction but his fuckboi reputation says getting involved with him is a bad idea. Besides, any kind of relationship between them would cost Charlie her job because it’s a distraction from her work, not to mention highly unprofessional.

Daniel doesn’t take no for an answer though and he wears down her defenses, one at a time until she gives in to him completely. He’s hiding a secret, the threats on set are becoming more threatening and someone may be gunning for Charlie herself. Things are complicated and she has a job to do. I loved these characters immediately because what’s not to like? Charlie is a southern bombshell with a smart mouth and the ass-kicking skills to back it up. Daniel’s charming and clearly head over heels for her. There’s a fun supporting cast too and I hope we get more Rob and Anders especially in the rest of the series.

Their story is suspenseful and hot, alternately steamy and nerve-wracking. The action is intense at times and even as one mystery’s solved, others seem to come to light. Charlie is exactly the kind of hero we need and Daniel’s her perfect match. I love these two and their story and just want more.
