This one took a little bit to get into but eventually I was hooked and spent a large part of the last ten or so chapters ugly crying.
The main character was too childish for me and the male main character was a tad dull. However, I loved the storyline and the minor characters were *chefs kiss*. The topics that were included were sensitive and personal but handled with care by the author.

Wow. Devoured it in a day. Full review to follow...but I will say this Jewel E Ann can do no wrong. Wow.
Every time I read a new JEA book at the end I stare down at my beating heart that has physically been removed from my body and now stares back at me saying, "really, did you not see this coming,,,AGAIN?" What can I say the heart knows, remembers, takes count of all of the missed beats, pauses, gasps, pulls, tugs, beautifully butterflied chest pains, and loves every damn minute. Reading a Ms. Ann book reminds of our working parts, the beauty of first loves, missed steps, heartbreak, and beautiful friendships that can stand the test of time. This story is proof of all of this. If you haven't taken the time to read this author I implore you to. She is a mastermind at playing your emotions like classically trained harpist and reminding us that even in a fictional world we can exist, love, connect and be. If I wasn't afraid of heights I would scream "READ THIS BOOK" from the rooftops, but alas that ain't happening, so from my big comfy chair I say, "read this book and all her others". You will not sorry you did. Thank you Ms. Ann for giving me another soul wrenching, beautifully written tribute to true love that I won't soon forget. Another favorite.

I'd like to give TW for this, but one of this is a mild spoiler so...I dunno what to do.
This is my first Jewel E Ann book. It most assuredly won't be the last. I didn't even read the blurb of this before I jumped into it. But Bohdi and Henna, well their love story, despite the twists, the turns, the forbidden nature and everything they have to go through, is beautiful.
The writing of this is what kept me hooked from page one. The emotion bled from the page and there was actually times when I thought that this wouldn't end in a HEA, that's how nervous it made me. But I cried and I laughed. I felt all of the feelings.

I absolutely adore Jewel E. Ann, but this book didn’t really work for me. Her only other book that I haven’t rated 5 stars was Before Us, so maybe romance amidst death/ grief is just not my thing. A Place Without You is still stellar writing that evoked deep emotions, but not my favorite of hers.

This book completely exceeded my expectations. I devoured this in one day.
Henna and Bodhi are fated lovers who meet at a music festival. Their love happens quickly and is so completely filled with devotion even if it means they might not end up together.
The thing about Jewel's books are that they dig so deep into the characters' thoughts and feelings. Every heart wrenching experience that they go through, I could feel it in my heart. It's a forbidden love story filled with impossible decisions to be made. I also appreciate that the story tackles a couple of ethical dilemmas in a compassionate way.
I cried. So hard at times that I couldn't keep reading because my eyes were blurry.
This is a story that you feel everywhere and I never wanted it to end.

So good!!
WHY HAS THIS BEEN JUST SITTING ON MY KINDLE FOR SO LONG?! I'm pretty sure I bought this when it first came out and everyone was raving about how great it was. I am so bummed it took me so long to give it a chance. From the very beginning, I was hooked on Henna and Bodhi. Their love was intoxicating; every moment felt real and authentic. This book not only had the love story down pat, but oh my goodness, did it have ALLLLL the angst. Tears were shed. Pain was felt. And all of the pieces were mended back together.
