I don't read much middle grade but this was nice for what it was.
Kitty is only almost turning 11 when she loses her mother. Not long after her funeral, her dad announces they will move to New York for 6 months for his job. Kitty has to leave her friends and go to a school with boys. Plus leave get therapist that is really helping her in her grief.
This book doesn't go very deep but it could have. I guess I just wanted a little bit more. I wanted Kitty to really fight for what she wants. I felt she just kind of did what she had to do because of her age.

This is a beautiful middle grade read to deal with loss, family love, and the quirky transatlantic move between NYC and London. “Grief glitter” is one of the most beautiful comparisons and ideas I have ever heard of.
While I know colors were important to the protagonist, the consistent palette descriptions sometimes detracted from the moment. However, there were definitely two moments of crying with strong emotion from this book! I highly recommend this story. Thank you Edelweiss+ for the ARC.

Lovely, compelling story about family, grief and the small moments that get us through. Also a love letter to NYC and London, two fabulous cities. As a home baker, I also adored the subplot involving a neighbor competing on British Bake Off.

Not at all the book I expected, since I was hoping the glitter indicated a queer narrative. I guess that's what I get for choosing a book by its cover. Still, a sweet story following the grief and growth of a tween. I did feel that the end was a bit random and forced, but it wasn't bad, just unexpected.

This book is truly amazing.
The characters are so likeable, relatable and well-written. The plot is amazing and gripping. The writing is absolutely stunning.
This needs a sequel!!

A sweet and touching story, geared towards a younger audience, which I didn’t realize at first because I didn’t read the synopsis. I still really enjoyed it and it left me teary-eyed.
