True Lies is a detailed, well-researched, and suspenseful story, one that kept me wondering what was going to happen next as super villain Dr. Elgin Tarver meets super sleuth FBI agent Alex Morse. Convinced by her dying sister’s last words that she was being murdered by her rich husband, Alex risks making potentially career ending choices as she races to save Dr. Chris Shepherd from the same fate. Who will live and who will die before it’s all over?

If Greg Iles wrote it, I'll read it. Period.

UPDATE: Oddly, couldn't get into this one. My first put-down-able Iles. :(

I thought it gave away most of the mystery too early, but managed to stay interesting and keep some suspense going. I liked the main character quite a lot. She was charmingly persistent.

2.5 stars. It was fine, nothing that exciting. He's written better.

I don't know what it is, but when I pick up a Greg Iles book I cannot put it down. This is the 3rd book of his I've read and I already know I need to read the rest of his books. This has got it all: mystery, thriller, action/adventure, and science.Alex Morse's sister confesses, on her deathbed, that her husband is to blame. Alex, being an FBI agent, goes rogue and discover there is way more to the case than she imagined. More people are involved, including a crooked lawyer and a research doctor. Kind of spooks me if half of what they talked about in this book is true. Having just finished my Hematology rotation, I was surprised to find out that I understood most of the medical jargon in the book :)

True Evil It Is

I cannot readily think of two antagonists more purely evil than the two in this book - and that includes Hannibal Lecter. The part that strains belief though is how the protagonist defies continually the FBI policies, procedures, and orders yet is reinstated as a result of dogged determination. It is greatly entertaining and a fun read.
