I’m rating this one a 4.75 I’ve enjoyed this one the most out of the series!!! It was so cute and very much relatable!!! Loved Griz I would like 10 of him!!!! And Hattie is so relatable, her story what she has going on! I love it! Recommend this book even if you don’t read the whole series.

Cute and well written story!!
I enjoyed it but everything literally happens in the span of 2 weeks. So it felt a little but rushed and incomplete!
Looking forward to blaze story!

Griz is being auctioned as a date for a good cause, he never expected the curvy organizer and friend of his to place the highest bet on him in the history of Westbury’s Bachelor Auction. But desperate times call for desperate measures and Hattie is having a desperate time. She is tired of her Bridezilla sister driving her nuts with her wedding planning and asking about her dating life. According to her fabulous blond, slim, tall sister - Hattie will attend the wedding alone because she can’t get a man. Oh boy is she wrong... Not only does Hattie shows up with the hottest, hunkiest, biggest hockey player in town - he is also the sweetest most supportive guy she has ever met. They are two peas in a pond and made for each other. I loved that the only “drama” was the bridezilla and that Griz and Hattie only had to deal with her and her antics - it was a “laugh-out-loud” type of book and made me happy to read it. Griz is tired of the nightlife and endless hook-ups, he is ready for the real thing - and every time he sees Hattie, she is it for him. Hattie is the same, she is tired of all the social perceptions about her person and her body - she wants Griz and she will have him.
BTW - I think this is the first romance I read written by a male author. Good job Mr. Cleveland!

Grizzly bear confidence
Such a cute fake relationship turned real. Griz is a big bear of a hockey player and Hattie is a full figured college student who’s sister makes her feel less than.

TW: fatphobia, familial emotional abuse, drug abuse (side character)
Griz is a hockey player who agreed to be auctioned off in an annual event where all proceeds go to the University's paper. His sister and her best friend work for the paper so when he was approached to participate he agreed to get the hokey team to participate.
Hattie is a plus size woman who has struggled with her relationship with her sister for years. The day of the auction her sister sends a text assuming she won't need a plus one and it is the last straw in a never ending chain of micro aggressions about Hattie's weight. In response to this frustration Hattie bids 1 thousands dollars on Griz and wins him and a day of his time.
Hattie was a funny and awkward character who immediately decides she cannot ask Griz to come to the wedding with her so she makes her problems worse before finally admitting why she bid so much money on him. Frustrated by the way that her sister talks to her, Griz agrees to go with her. It was a dramatic and funny read about two people who are trying to hide their attraction to each other while being forced together. The family drama felt realistic and moved the plot effectively.
The fatphobia was challenged by the main characters but is a large part of the plot progression and may be sensitive for some readers. As a plus-size, early twenties, woman myself it felt relatable without being triggering but that may not be everyone's experience.

I really liked these two characters. I loved Griz’s interactions with Clementine. But I didn’t like how Hattie was considered a self-confident person and then the whole book she’s super self-consious. I get that her family brought her down a bit, but she was even unconfident when she was alone with Griz and I felt like that was a disservice to her character.
I’m not super interested in the other two books, so I might not continue this series. We’ll see.

I kept seeing this on BookTok so I had to pick it up despite the AWFUL cover. To much focus on side characters that I could care less about and pretty insta lovey. Pretty average college sports romance
