Plot was okay. The premise was good, the fake relationship was sweet and Griz is a really good guy. The ending sets up the next of the series for another player, which is smart. I finished this in a day. Not because it was overly good, but because I skimmed a lot of it and it was fast paced. Overall, an okay book but I wouldnt read it again.

Second read-through in a year? I don’t think I’ve ever done that before! On the second read, I enjoyed this book even more. The first time I read it was out of sequence—there are 2 books & 2 short stories (available to newsletter subscribers) that come before this novel. While it can be read as a stand-alone, Griz and Hattie both have significant roles to play in earlier books. I love these stories, and can’t wait to read Canuck’s story!

I kept seeing this on BookTok so I had to pick it up despite the AWFUL cover. To much focus on side characters that I could care less about and pretty insta lovey. Pretty average college sports romance

Here’s the thing, I liked this book and I liked the chemistry the main characters had but it also ended up seeming like the author wrote this to set the scene for Blaze’s book. It can be read as a standalone but I would recommend maybe picking up the previous books as there were mentions of scenes from the previous books.
I also wasn’t expecting to be so effected when Hattie was dealing with her sister and her comments about her weight. This isn’t a fault on the author, I just wish there had been some warning SOMEWHERE about how.. I’m not really sure how to phrase it but it.. it was kind of hard to read at times and overall I’m not sure if it was worth it
Cw: fat phobia, food portioning, mc is kinda forced into wearing a waist trainer, honestly if you are triggered with anything related to food or anything like this, I’d tread carefully or maybe skip altogether. I’m not one who’s easily triggered but this- it was a lot and put me in this unsettled mood.
