WOW this turned to a real Hunger Games level fast! The first book was the conspiracy, and this book was the fight against it (lots of fighting). It's got me thinking how many punches, blows to the head, and shoulder slams to doors I could physically take before I pass out. But otherwise, it was Very Good. A weird concept for a story, but quite good!

I want everyone to read this duology.

very good sequel with almost all of the questions of the first book resolved.
I thought Vivian vs the Apocalypse was really good but after reading this, the previous book just felt like it was all a big build up to this intense climactic story. This story was so satisfying to read after being left a little puzzled and wanting more after the first one. I like that it mirrors so many current issues of today, especially the conflict between science and faith. Umamyah is a little too virgin Mary for my liking but it draws a nice comparison.
This book concludes Vivian Apple's battle against the Church of America, which is less a church and more a mega corporation/cult. Vivian is smart and strong, but manages to make a few dumb mistakes along the way -- which makes her more realistic. Do any of us really know if we would make great choices at the end of the world? Viv's best friend, Harp, is great at both getting Viv into trouble and getting her out of it (the true mark of a great friend).
As the book reaches its end, the action amps up to edge-of-your-seat levels and leads to an incredibly satisfying conclusion.

I enjoyed this so much! I want a Vivian and a Harp and a Winnie in my life.
A sequel, not at all a standalone, in case anyone is wondering. Vivian Apple is a duology, so while the first book does have a bit of a cliffhanger, everything wraps up pretty neatly in the end of this one.
Vivian and Harp continue to unravel the mysteries of the Church of America, as the group predicts a second rapture.
Just as engaging as the first book.
