Would I say that this was an enemies to lovers romance? Not really, no. A bit of banter/push and pull without actual hatred and conflicting emotions doesn't make it enemies to lovers in my eyes. Was it my fav book in the series so far? Absolutely yes. My heart hurt for what Colton had been through. As for, Shelly...she was your average fl with daddy issues and abandonment issues (so nothing too major when it comes to dark romance - I've read worse shit than this lmao). As usual and as stated in my previous reviews for this series, this is strictly NOT a dark romance imo. Regardless, I did enjoy it and I look forward to reading Tyler and Will's story as well!

P.S. The cover is legitimately scary. This shit is what nightmares are made of lmfao

I have been waiting for Colton’s story! He has always intrigued me since we first read Adam's story. Every time I read a new soldiers story I always say that they are my favourite but I think Colton has stolen my heart

Coltons story did not go the way I thought it would! It felt similar but very different from the other soldiers stories. As usual the twist was well done and the spice was delicious.

I have been waiting for this book for so long. And I can honestly say I wasn't disappointed!

Colton King...be still my beating heart!
I love this foreword, which is simply a letter from Colton to all his fans. It is a unique and interesting way to get the trigger warning out of the way.

Throughout this series, the unity of these me carries them through everything. They are a close-knit group and always have each other backs.

The lessons that Colton shares are hard to work through but necessary in helping to understand him. He has been through so much but it has only shaped him into the person he is.
Shelly has had her own ups and downs throughout life and it has closed her off from life. It has also made her more determined to protect the few people she does love.

Colton tears through all the walls Shelly has built up and doesn't give her a chance to get away from him. Shelly makes Colton feel and has his mask slipping. Together, they complete each other, just like Batman and Joker.

Their start is rocky and filled with snappy comebacks, but they soon find that the chemistry sizzling between the two of them isn't something they can overlook. The slow burn of their relationship builds up beautifully and has you waiting in anticipation.

All your favorite characters from the first two novels are back and there are a couple of new characters you won't want to miss out on. The Masters and The Soldiers work side by side to take care of business and keep their neighborhoods safe.

Overall, this novel is exactly what I wanted. Some action, mystery, and just enough spice. You'll keep turning the pages, eager to find out what will happen next.
I HIGHLY recommend this novel!
