Was in a historical mood, wanted something with fun fucky vibes. Found this incredibly talky for the first handful of chapters without much sparkle in the dialogue to warrant it, with weird pacing throughout the rest of the book. Enjoyed the main ship for the most part but felt it was somewhat underbaked, with insta-lust giving way to love fairly quickly. A good enough time but I probably wouldn't revisit.

This was...not my thing. I've read a few different series similar to this that I heartily enjoyed, but either I'm burned out with the genre or I'm just not into Eloisa's writing, because this didn't do it for me at all.

Enjoyed this. Ultimately fairly forgettable for me I think but it has me interested in returning to the family and the series.

This was my first work by the author and I quite enjoyed the writing style and the story. Due to the fact that I started in the middle of the series, I did not get not all the connections but I still enjoyed it very much. I liked the characters and I am thinking of continuing with the series, if I am in to mood for historical romance.

I really loved this one - it had the perfect balance of deep feelings and the lightness that comes with the Wilde family and how simply delightful they are.
James made this family unique - legitimate children, a partially-Indian ward, an illegitimate child of no relation but raised by the family, stepchildren - it is difficult to encompass the scope of this family in a sentence. It is so lovely that the family is full of love despite their unconventional relations to each other. Here we get to see that certain members of the family still feel out of place despite being considered a Wilde by the patriarch.
I loved Betsy and her struggle to see herself as a Wilde - her mother taints her perception of herself. She takes control of her struggle in the best way she can. She is strong and passionate and just wants to be herself.
Jeremy's struggle with PTSD was also unique - while I have encountered characters in HRs with this disorder, I do not believe there has been one related to his service on behalf of the Crown in the war with the American colonies.
While this had a modicum of a love triangle, it was a very tame one (as was fortunate - I hate real love triangles).
I first read Eloisa James many years ago and took a long hiatus from her work. I've been enamored of this series and this family - so glad to have gotten back into it!

Lady Betsy had a very successful first season she has turned down more than one marriage proposal. Now a duke seems like the next that will propose.
Though Jeremy offers a wager that based on a billboard game, if she wins he will give help her with a scheme, but if he wins she will be his for a night.
This was a very enjoyable story! Betsy and Jeremy have so much fun. They way the tease eachother is unique and add to the story.
Jeremy was a especially sweet while he was jealous of the suitors that were after her.
