I really enjoyed this book's illustrations. The subtle cross-hatching and emphasis of one color was an interesting, and succesful, choice. The story itself was wonderful also. I loved that the majority of it took place within a book within a book.

A cumulative good night book in black and white and yellow. Caldecott winner.

The only thing I enjoyed about this book was the pictures. I'm not really sure why it has won awards since there are much better picture books out there. If I was a child, I would be bored by the story, but I guess it might be nice to read since it's a bit predictable.

A perfect example of what a picture book can and should be - simple, beautiful language paired with gorgeous illustrations. This combination creates a warm, intimate story that is perfect for reading together or for a child to flip through by themselves.

Won the Caldecott, but another book that I like, but don't see appealing to young readers.

Illustrations remind me of Goodnight, Moon, simple story with a lot of repetition. Quick read.
