I initially picked up this book to get a sense of what bullet journaling is and to explore the basic how-to process. The author does a good job explaining both, but I found his why more interesting. The idea behind bullet journaling isn't simply to formulate another daily log or to-do list, but can be seen as an practice on mindfulness and reflecting on one's accomplishments. As a result, I found this book turned out better than I expected and more helpful than many other "productivity" books out there.

This is a great book to help kickstart a journaling habit. Even if you don't want to do the bullet journal method, i found Ryder Carroll's ideas very helpful to my own journaling methods

Maybe I'll review this in a few weeks or months I actually find out if the journaling method works for me.

I love my bullet journal and got some great new ideas from this book. Some parts are a bit waffley but others are spot on. My favourite chapters were the ones on goal setting and control. I will be referring back to this book a lot.

I had previously been a user of the bullet journal system based on some quick tutorials online, and I was looking to get back into practice with some insight from the main developer of the system. This book didn't disappoint.

The bullet journal organization system is simple by design and modular, so successful elements can be kept and others can be customized or removed to fit one's purposes. But it isn't just a free-for-all either, as each block has a specific purpose to serve and is formed to minimally and effectively perform.

The mechanics of bullet journaling can be found online already, and there are plenty of resources on YouTube, blogs, and elsewhere. But what I thought was most valuable about this book were the insights that the author and creator put together around organization, meaning, purpose, and how to connect your goals to your purposes and your actions. Most self-help stuff makes my eyes roll, but the thoughts here seemed to resonate with my own struggles more than others I've read recently. The book has some anecdotes and stories along its way, which in most books like this come off really salesy and hokey, but most of them here were actually insightful. I felt like the author connected with my own issues with motivation, depression, anxiety, etc with sincere and weathertested applications of this minimalist system through his own, concrete trial and error. Nobody telling you that the world is rainbows or that positive thinking gets you Corvettes here - just ways to move forward and roll with the punches along the way. And he doesn't promise that this is the best for everyone out of the box, but that it is simple and functional and that you can make it yours.

Like I said, I was a previous bullet journaler, but I feel that this book has given a whole lot more insight into how to connect this practice into my life. Even if you aren't into the mechanics or syntax of the bullet journal and prefer something else, the meditations on purpose and action and inertia themselves are worth a read.

As much a book on intentional living as a task/journaling method. Lots of ideas from agile and lean. Easy read. Decent book.
