I read this a while ago, and the thing that stands out most years later is that it was a hell of a lot better than the movie.

This was good but it did drag out quite a bit. There were a lot of twists and turns but the translation was alittle hard to read sometimes. I think that dampened the effect of some of the shocks. I did like the premise a lot and wish there was a more complete answer as to what happened to the killer and who the hell the mold guy was

I love Nordic crime fiction. I really liked the writing and most of the characters in this book. But, honestly, I knew who the Snowman was the moment we met him. :-/

I’ll admit this was a slog and I’ll also admit it had me in its grips. For me it flitted back and forth between the two. I think the real problem for me about this book was that I felt no urgency with it. There wasn’t anything about it, thematically, that resonated with me so it just felt like just another crime noir mystery. There’s nothing wrong with that and it’s well written for what it was but I didn’t often feel the urge to pick up the book to find out what happens next. At least not until the last 1/3 of the book, things do get more interesting. But ya, If it wasn’t for this book club I’m a part of I probably would have dropped it.

This is a very slow burn book, and the language makes it quite hard to read sometimes. It gets better as the mystery unfolds, and it certainly keeps you guessing.
