I wanted to like this book, and the premise has great potential, but the characters were one dimensional, and many of the gratuitous sex scenes began to feel redundant. If you enjoy erotica more than plot, this might be for you, but I hated literally every man in this book - every single one of them would absolutely be an Andrew Tate fan today which really ruined the sexy factor for me.
As this was one of Lora Leigh’s first books, I think - hope - she has a lot of room for growth and improvement, but this book simply wasn’t it for me.

I am forced to question my sanity at even picking up this book. I have ... issues with romance books. But you know, every now and then you just need some mindless smut. And I have it on good authority that Lora Leigh and the Breeds series in particular contains some quantity (if not quality) smut. I'll try to keep the eye rolling to a minimum, but it is very difficult.

Okay, full disclosure. I haven't had much experience with "the sex", but even so this seems really unlikely. Do people seriously talk like this?! I know I said I wanted some smut, but I think what I really wanted was a logical story with logical amounts and types of sex. What I got was "Hey, let's put in every conceivable type of sex and see if we can slap enough narrative Spackle to be able to call it erotica instead of porn."
See, I understand what's going on now... I thought this was a romance (with lots of sex) book. It's not. It's a very protracted rape fantasy. I think it might actually be a more interesting story if you read it as a psychological horror novel about a journalist that is kidnapped by her source, made chemically dependent on her rapist and then mind-fucked and emotionally abused. Because that's exactly what happens. This is not a happy-feel-good love story.
Final Verdict
2 stars
Despite the atrociously bad dirty talk and the fucked up nature of the "romance", it earns 2 stars (by a hair). Because it did have a couple of scenes that were pretty hot (hey, that's why I picked it up in the first place) and it has a premise that I find mildly interesting, if it's really only explored as snippets between all the sex.

Great first book in the new series. I tried to withstand it, because I just knew I was going to devour it whenever I get my hands on it - yes, and I did. Lora Leigh is an exceptional author who writes a captivating story, fierce alpha males and sweet heroines. The story is well developed and until the very end I never knew what would hit me. I didn't see the end coming at all.

WARNING : THIS BOOK HAS MATURE CONTENT AND NOT SUITABLE FOR PEOPLE UNDER 21 years old (at last in Indonesia here). READ AT YOUR OWN RISK
I remember that I'd read this book a long time ago, but forget to write the review!:/
But thanks for my GR friend, Alyssa Hesperia (love your David Gandy pic;) ) She add this book at her shelves, so I can remember "Oh, I'd read this! And why I don't give rating?"
The problem with this book is.. to much sex scene, and the story seems pointless. Well, I don't know WHAT exactly the point of this book after all, since Merinus and Callan became busy bunnies, and having sex every time. Callan, I think, is an alpha chauvinistic pig, that love to growls (oh yes, since he is Feline Breed) and his favorite hobby is force Merinus had sex with him :P (Note: There's no rape in this book! Nope! Nada).. And Merinus, despite her stubborn attitude, seems can't resist Callan (thank you very much "mating heat" !!)
I almost don't want to continue read the other books in Breed series after read this, but some GR friend convice to me to try continue reading (thanks Fransesca!), so I'll continue read the second book and the rest, when I have time :P
20 more books to read.. Oh, my.. *sigh*
One more addition : What with this cover? Arrghhhhh, I don't like man with messy long hair!! >.< (except Legolas, and his hair is perfecto!)

This is the first in Lora Leigh's Breed series. Eh....This was three parts sex, one part plot and one part character development. I don't mind sex but I've got to have plot and characters. Also what plot was there was contrived......

I enjoyed this book, and loved the playfulness of the hero in the beginning of the book.
But I ask often myself if the author had a bonus every times she used the C word. That might explain why it was used so often.
