The Green Ribbon and The Pirate.
Both were impressively creepy... for a beginning reader chapter book.

These are some very weird and very creepy spooky tales.

This was a favorite as a kid, but a lot shorter than I remember.

Heck freaking yeah! The girl with the green ribbon is still the best today as it was back when I was a tiny little first grader who got this book out of the Scholastic catalog.

I remember loving this book as a kid and it's pretty awesome 18 years later. All the stories are pretty fun with some old ones you may know already and some new ones(The Girl with the Green Ribbon is still my favourite.). I feel it would best be read outloud and around Halloween to get the real creep factor in full effect. I only give it four stars because I wish it was longer and the two stories were pretty throwaway.

I had such nostalgic feelings reading this for what feels like the millionth time. The Green Ribbon was always my favorite story in this book, but I am surprised I remembered so many of the stories after all this time! It has been a couple decades since I read this last, and I'm happy to say that it remains a favorite to this day.

I'm beholden to the original illustrator and will go find that one next.
