Attempts to narrate the Firefly universe between the end of the televised series and the movie.
IMHO the movie suffered as the narrative tone went from plucky to epic. Similarly, the story does not excite as this work is a bandage, plugging holes that should never have existed in a first place and appearing rather insignificant compared to the bookends on either side.

This feels so much like an episode of the show, I wouldn't be surprised if it was a script leftover.
Simply put, I like it and I want more.

I really like this bridge between the show and the movie. Great art, and I loved the bonus writings about the history of the Firefly universe and from Nathan Fillion. If you loved the show and love comics, give this a try!

I found the comic unsatisfying. I love the TV series and the movie, so I though this would be a fun read. I was wrong.

Picks up from where Season one of the show left off and sheds some light on the pair of mysterious suited men and the whereabouts of Officer Dobson who is "left for dead" at the end of episode one. It also seems to be a good bridge between the show and the movie without really giving anything away. However not much character development. I think it explains why Shepard Book and Lady Inora aren't in the movie with the two deciding to move on from crew serenity to lead their own lives. I haven't watched the serenity movie yet but it's made me feel hopeful that the movie will answer all my burning questions and finally leave me with some semblance of closure.
Good read for any fire fly fan.

Just finished Firefly last night, had to keep up with my favorite characters!! Why is there not more of all of this universe? :(

With the feel of a lost episode, this edition is an immediate precursor to the Serenity movie. I know it's little consolation for the series being canceled, but I'm glad it exists. I felt like it bridged the gap, adequately explaining the absence of Shepard and Inara by the time the movie does roll around. It was something I'd wondered about, and I'm satisfied with how it was handled. All of the quality in dialogue and character interactions was very true to the series.
From an artistic standpoint, I found nothing to complain about. The realistic, high-contrast styling captured facial expressions and conveyed everything I love about the characters.
