Perfect! Perfect, perfect, perfect as always!
Yes, the book has got a rather "slow tempo" and ain't loaded with much action or shocking plot twists, but is just lovely. And though there is a main character, I fell each chapter - or a small group of chapters, two or three in a row maybe - is a tale, so don't expect a big story with just one outcome, but multiple ones.
I can't help but fall a little more in love with life everytime I finish one of Anne's books. They make me believe life can be as wonderful as this..., filled with kindhearted interesting people and fairy dusks or walks to the graveyard... Sometimes I wonder if we're just looking in the wrong places and it's all there waiting for us.

If this story took place in modern times, it would totally be a reality show on Bravo. I thought all of the new characters we meet are great. I actually laughed at some of the conversations Anne had. Looking forward to the next book.

Anne of Windy Poplars!! Or rather... Anne of Windy Willows... That's the title Montgomery originally chose for it {and not just title, but scenery of the main house!}, but America said it was too much like "The Wind in the Willows". So, she changed it... {as well as removing some "gruesome content"from the original book???} But England and Australia kept it the same. My edition is this one ^, but all the same, this time through when I came to "Windy Poplars"I always tried to see it in my head as "Windy Willows". After all, Lucy Maud imagined that wee house with swishy, lovely willows all around it... not poplars. {But poplars are lovely to, when it comes to that}
WHOA. Moving on :/
I love this book. I really do. It's a little different from the others... after all, it was published after both "Anne's House of Dreams" and "Rainbow Valley", so I think that's why Anne seems a little less like her old first-three-book-self, but she's really still very much Anne Shirley of Green Gables and I love her. The only times I don't like her so much, are when she gets a bit patronizing {"dear"} ....unintentionally, of course!
I ADORE the letters. Oh I love them. I think Montgomery does a really lovely job at them: some letters in books are just so unbelievable that anyone could remember in such detail situations and dialect, so I love in this, the letters are quite believable, and the more conversational scenes are dealt with in third person. Goodness, I love these letters. I do wish we might have had a peek into Gilbert's letters, but then, these books chronicle Anne first and foremost, so... {and perhaps he wrote all of his with a perfect pen}
It's very much a collection of short stories in some aspects, but they're all lovely and involve me. The only one I wasn't interested in was when she went to babysit the two children. The one with Hazel cracks me up {my she's aggravating, but I do feel a wee bit sorry for Anne when it all comes down} The one with Dovie....well, I like the end, but I thought Anne was a bit high and mighty in it all and I felt sorry for Dovie!
I love how, even though this is a more town-orientated book than the others, it still has a lovely natural feel about it, as we see the world through Anne's eyes and the kind of environment she seeks out. I'm so glad we read of her summers in Avonlea, her imaginings out her window, and her prowls about graveyards. And I like how it's not very her-school-life orientated, like the movie.
And my favourite thing.... LITTLE ELIZABETH. She is just the bees knees and I just wish Montgomery had then written a whole 8 book series about her!! I so want to read about her growing up, and what she'll do, and where she'll go...
This is just such a sweet book and is up there with my favourites of the series. I think maybe we needed more scenes with Gilbert, to keep him kind of real and not just a name or term of endearment at the beginning of letters, but apart from that the book seems to sort of have a content romance sprinkled throughout it all that I love. Hats off yet again, L. M!!
WOW. That was the hugest bunch of random ramblings, and I'm sorry if you've actually gotten all this way xD {but thank you if you have! *throws flower petals at you*}

Vivement !
