i definitely enjoyed the plot of roku's story. the multiple perspectives kind of drew me out of the reading experience and i wish the author had just stuck to roku and sozin.

i love… i love how gyatso’s character was written and i loved the new characters and i loved roku and i loved everything I LOVE AVATARRRR!!!!!! it was really interesting seeing young sozin too!!

4/5 only bc there were some things i didn’t like so much but it’s not enough to ruin the book for me

A fun read! Received the day it came out and read on a vacation.

Gyatso was an easy highlight, but Malaya was a wonderful character to include. I also felt that we could see Sozin’s wickedness even from youth, but his sneaky way of spinning situations make it believable that Roku would still let things slide for the sake of their friendship.

Also the new Roku lore about his and Sozin’s shared companion was an excellent touch that feels realistic to his past, and even further solidifies how Sozin could be a blind spot for him.

Overall another great edition to the Chronicles, and well-done from Randy Ribay!

quite slow-paced, bcos we spend lots of time in roku's head. where he is a spoilt rich brat lmao. (and sozin's even worse.) also adore monk gyatso

Ribay proves himself as worthy a successor to carry on the Avatar tradition as Roku himself with this emotional entry in the franchise.

I'm afraid nothing will live up to the Kyoshi novels. However, I still need the next book. Malaya will continue to live in my heart.
