Somewhat predictable except for the ending which I still have mixed feelings about...

I demolished this book in one sitting!

A man wakes up bloodied on a beach, he doesn’t remember who he is or where he is from.

A woman’s life is in shambles as her perfect life has come undone.

Another woman is thrilled to reunited with her long lost brother.

All of these people are not who they seem to be!

This book was fast paced and twisty, and although there was a point where I knew where it was going, it was still well executed enough that I was fine going along for the ride. The writing reminded me of Gillian Flynn, but I think that’s because of perfectly executed, calculating female character! For the sake of spoilers I will not elaborate, but this one is worth the read.

Hannah Mary McKinnon just gets better and better, and You Will Remember Me is notably her best mystery thriller yet! That creepy, ominous cover suits perfectly!

A man wakes up on a beach with a cut on his head not knowing who he is or why he’s there.

Lily’s boyfriend, Jack, goes missing one night. She uncovers that he’s been lying to her all along, and he’s not who he says he is.

Maya’s stepbrother, Asher, disappeared years ago, but now he’s returned with significant memory problems.

All of these stories connect, but probably not in the way you expect. Twists and turns abound, and especially one BIG twist was completely unexpected. There are likable AND unlikable characters you will love to hate. You Will Remember Me is a dark wild tale that wraps up in a deeply satisfying finale! Well-done, Hannah Mary McKinnon!

I received a gifted copy.

I'd like to thank the author, publisher and Net Galley for providing a free e-book ARC of this book in exchange for my review.

I don't usually enjoy newer thrillers. Many times, they aren't really thrilling to me. I'm usually very disappointed. This one, however, was a very nice surprise!

I'm not a fan of the multiple POV story line, and it did distract me from reading and really enjoying the book, so I'm going to go with a 3 star rating (rounded down from 3.5). The changing POV combined with the fact that I hated every single character distracted me, but overall, this is one of the highest ratings I've given a thriller in the past 5 years. I will check out other titles by this author for sure.

Hannah Mary McKinnon’s You Will Remember Me is yet another unputdownable read from an author who gets better with each book. What begins with a case of amnesia twists with each new discovery as McKinnon slowly and methodically unravels the layers of secrets and deceit. A gripping, chilling thriller that held me captive until the shocking end.

A man wakes on the beach- no memories. He sees a trailer with Maine plates - goes in and passes out.
Lily wakes up- no word from her boyfriend Jack. He fails to show for their plans. After a year and a half of dating, Lily knows something is wrong. She finds his truck at the beach - but no sign of Jack.
The man wakes in Maine, a phone number running through his mind. He dials it. And so it begins.
Maya, Jack's stepsister takes him home, determined to help Jack recover his memories.
What I loved best - Maya's craziness isn't held back. That ending had me gasping out loud.
Fast paced. Excellent characters. Predictable but holy crap. Read it.

I started You Will Remember Me two evenings ago, and devoured it from beginning to end. As you know, dear readers, I’ve been trying my best to get further and further into the psychological thriller genre. It has been a delight to slowly uncover new stories, and wind my way through the twisty minds of the authors who pen them. I’m happy to report that Hannah Mary McKinnon has written a book that is a quick and enjoyable read.

The characters here aren’t necessarily likable, but I did find them to be realistic which is almost more important. As a character, Ash became more and more gruff as the story progressed. His frustration made sense to me, as he was basically relying on everyone around him to tell him what was real. Which made Maya’s character even more terrifying, as she was the one responsible for taking care of Ash as he was recovering. It begs the question as to whether you can ever truly trust your memories. Whether they are the ones that you think you remember on your own, or they are the ones that others have fed you. The dynamic between Ash and Maya was uncomfortable, but in a way that made this story compulsively readable.

Now, I will say honestly that I did mostly figure out the ending before it arrived. This is the type of story that hints rather heavily at what is to come, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Instead, McKinnon uses this as a way to keep the reader engaged so see if they’re being tempted off course. As Ash regains his memories, bit by bit, the reader is treated to more pieces of the puzzle. I had a lot of fun slowly putting them together to see if I actually knew what the picture would ultimately be. You may be just as surprised as I was, that what emerges is not quite what you expected it to be.

I can attest that this is one of those books that you will absolutely fly through. The quick moving plot will pull you in, and tug you along without mercy. Trust me when I say that you probably don’t want to start this right before bed, or you may not sleep at all. You Will Remember Me is a solid, if not completely standout, entry in the psychological thriller genre. I look forward to what Hannah Mary McKinnon has in store next!

How would you feel if you woke up on a beach, not remembering what happened to you or who you are? In You Will Remember Me, this is what happens to our main character. This book was so twisty, I loved the multiple POVs and how everything is connected in the end.

Years ago, Ash leaves Maine after getting involved in a murder investigation and is never seen or heard of again. Lily's boyfriend, Jack goes missing after a night swim in Maryland. This seems strange considering he's a strong swimmer. Lilly makes it her mission to find out what happened to the love of her life. With determination, she manages to find a connection as to what may have happened to Jack...a connection in Maine.

The ending of this book wrecked me, we read this for our book club and everyone was shocked by the twist at the end. I'm always a fan of "happy" endings so when a book doesn't have one it leaves me ruined. I immediately wanted more and would love to see these characters once again.
