Not totally sure what to say about this book. I don't actually like the characters that much. If I met Dexter in real life I would hate him. If I met Emma in real life I'd be irritated by her. However, I found myself rooting for them throughout the story. I like that we get a glimpse into their lives for just one day out of the year, each year. We aren't given a synopsis for the other 364 days that we missed, but we are given enough to truly understand where they are what's going on. It made sense. I liked that their relationship was flawed in so many ways and there were years where they didn't even talk to each other on this one day. It wasn't a particularly romantic story. It wasn't exactly a study on the human condition. It was just a story about two people and what they are to each other. There were many parts that completely resonated with me, and I might have been blinking back some tears there at the end (I've seen the movie, so it wasn't a shock. But it's *very* well written. The after part, that is.). So overall, I enjoyed the book.

I read several reviews that said that people either love or hate this book. Just consider me the loud and proud middle ground. I liked it. Although I didn't think it was brilliant, I enjoyed the writing style and the premise, and it did get me quite pleasantly through several bus rides and that's good enough for me.

Loved the concept of the book and the story line, just hated the language. Minus the language, I would have given it 4 stars.

Me gustó *spoiler alert*:
