I like Michael Jackson. But man, this book was weak. You can learn almost anything in it from any documentary based on him/his life. It was not very in depth. He does mention he likes to be private and he took "writing" this book as a chance to explain some things, but still, not much to it. Plus, it felt like it was written by a 16 year old, not someone in their late 20s. However, I did find out he didn't even write this book; he had a "ghost writer" do it for him. Is this worth the read? If you're a huge MJ fan, sure, if you're just curious of him, no.

Emocionantes son las palabras de un real artista, como entrega todo a su arte.

I give this a 5/5 because I truly cannot fully "rate" an autobiography. I can't tell someone that they didn't tell their own life story well because I wasn't there. However, I will say that this is the only publication out there that is from Michael's perspective, not influenced by any alterior motives or bias (negative or positive). I was glad to know that Michael wrote this as I wanted to learn more about him without this air of controversy or secrets being "unlocked". Since he is dead, it doesn't feel right.

As far as the content is concerned, there is a lot of images and the way Michael writes is unlike most books. He writes as if he is talking to you, as if you are with him, speaking his own thoughts and that's what I found most charming and endearing about this book. I feel bad that there wasn't any updates after the book was put out. However, given the sensitivity towards the end of his life, I do understand.

There are absolutely no words to describe Michael Jackson and what I feel towards him. He is absolute perfection to me. I love him for his strengths and all of his faults. He's tremendously beautiful to me in every possible way. I admire him and feel for him. I can't even entirely wrap my mind around his life. How he must view the world. I constantly wonder how he could have still loved the world and all people as much as he did even after all that the world has put him through. How? He is love and it is amazing. I will always love Michael Jackson and I will always stand by him no matter what.

Also, he has the most beautiful smile I have ever seen in my entire LIFE.

What I loved most was Michael’s personal voice coming through strong and clear. The phrasing and asides would be bothersome if not clearly coming from MJ himself. I loved this as an easy read and palate cleanser. It was written and released by 1988, so we don’t get the full story, rather the early career is the centre. I appreciated the clear corroborating facts between this autobiography and the heavy duty biography of J Randy Taraborrelli. Between the two I feel I’ve gotten the ultimate look into MJ’s life. Overall I enjoyed hearing directly from Michael and this is a great, fun pick for any fan!

Really enjoyed reading this... until I got to the afterward and realized that they were taped conversations transcribed. I mean, MJ did go over everything and add more detail but I would have liked to know that in the beginning. Otherwise, a good read but perhaps sadder now because we know how his life eventually ends. In 1988, he was truly a different person. It's distressing to see how that changed, as his celebrity grew.
