I give this a 5/5 because I truly cannot fully "rate" an autobiography. I can't tell someone that they didn't tell their own life story well because I wasn't there. However, I will say that this is the only publication out there that is from Michael's perspective, not influenced by any alterior motives or bias (negative or positive). I was glad to know that Michael wrote this as I wanted to learn more about him without this air of controversy or secrets being "unlocked". Since he is dead, it doesn't feel right.
As far as the content is concerned, there is a lot of images and the way Michael writes is unlike most books. He writes as if he is talking to you, as if you are with him, speaking his own thoughts and that's what I found most charming and endearing about this book. I feel bad that there wasn't any updates after the book was put out. However, given the sensitivity towards the end of his life, I do understand.

Graphic: Child abuse
Minor: Incest and Pedophilia
Not sure if you can really count this as a spoiler because it is often talked about, however since it is triggering Michael talks about how Diana Ross is like a mother, sister and lover to him and I will never forgive her for exploiting him and making him feel that that sort of relationship was appropriate. I'm glad she looked after him, but the fact that he used those words to describe their relationship gives me the ick. There is technically not any pedophilia or incest mentioned in the book (i.e. a relationship between actual family members), however that aspect may give people pause and feels like something I should warn about. It will make sense once this book is read.
