Absolutely loved this book such a good read. It stays fast paced from the very beginning all the way through the end.

I have read every book of the Kate Burkholder series. I will read Linda's books until she stops writing them. But I am getting sad with how predictable they are becoming. The story lines are amazing and she mixes them up. Never the same one twice. But I always know the chief is gonna get hurt and you are going to think she's gonna die. That is getting annoying to keep reading. But that's my only complaint. Other then that, it was a great story line. Can't wait for next July for the next one!

This is the first Linda Castillo book I have read but it won’t be the last. I prefer to read series in order so now I will start with the first in this series, this was number 10 but someone had given me the book. I grew up with Old Order Amish neighbors so I have an appreciation of that culture, both the good and the bad. This book had me guessing until the end.

An interesting and rare look into an Amish community through the lens of a formerly-Amish police chief trying to solve a murder. The first-person narrative is a bit rare for mysteries but it works. Overall an entertaining read.

This is the latest book in the series. It starts with a barn that burns down. Chief Kate Burkholder goes to investigate and they discover that an Amish teenager was burned alive inside the barn. But the more she digs into the homicide, she realizes that the teen was not who he seemed.
What I like about these books is that the author describes the Amish culture and how they interact with the "English" culture. The dynamics are a very interesting addition to a typical mystery book. This story was a page-turner but there was some description of sexual assault, so it might not be for everyone.
