I found this book underwhelmingly average. First and foremost, the genre wasn't really my cup of tea from the beginning. This high-stakes, global scale, political novel follows the most stereotypical action movie plot you've ever seen, and I do not gravitate towards these types of books or movies. There were no juicy plot twists or mysteries revealed, just increasing macho-man action scenes as WW3 becomes an increasing possibility. Gunfights, kidnapping, and continuously reading about the epitome of unemotional masculine energy does absolutely nothing for me. Sure, the power of perception management was interesting, but not enough for me to have enjoyed this book.

It was a good read, but I felt the book took a while to set up the different characters before getting to dealing with the main storyline. That said, I think it was quite interesting how the two main characters ended up together. Looking forward to the next one.

I'm used to David Baldacci's books now. I've come to expect the early part of many books to describe seemingly unrelated, if fast-moving events. Later, often with unexpected twists the themes merge and there is an exciting, normally unpredictable climax. This book fits the pattern precisely and kept me up far too late into the night at the end.

I don't typically read books like this that can easily fall into a category with Tom Clancy and the like but it was a huge list of ebooks I had so I went ahead and read it.
I really enjoyed it and am now reading the second book in the A.Shaw series. The premise of the book that perception management can change what's happening in the world with some cleverly placed web videos. It may have been more fascinating to me because I was reading it when the occupy movement was picking up its pace.
The book did not disappoint and so far the second book in the series is just as good.
I will probably continue down the list of Baldacci books I have.
