Interesting and Enjoyable
Audio format was great.
Some good stories, some interesting interdisciplinary tips/observations, but I'm not sure it rises to the assigned level of "unique" takes on creativity.
But definitely some good nuggets of wisdom to keep in mind here.

Listened to this as an audiobook and thought the performance/production was particularly good. That is what kept me most engaged.

Excellent

The book was a great look at the creative process. Not necessarily a step by step guide but an off the beaten track book.
Anyone that creates in any way should read this book. Take your time reading it. Think about what is written.

I read the first half and then glossed the rest. Definitely lots of insightful nuggets.

Such a delight to listen to Questlove’s latest book. As a musician he makes the most amazing audiobooks. A talented multidisciplinary artist shares his inspirations for creativity. This book really spoke to me as an artist that likes to do so many different kinds of art. A mix of research, anecdotes, advice, inspiration and just good old storytelling. Highly recommend.

Enjoyed the listen. Was great to hear this read by Questlove, with enriching audio/music throughout. Glad I heard the book, but wouldn’t mind getting the physical copy to highlight passages. Enjoyed hearing about his history, creative process, anecdotes and wisdom. The story about the chef who didn’t necessarily need generalists working for him, but serial specialists who could master something different every few months, resonated with me.

I'd give this something between 3.5 and 4 stars. There were definitely things he articulated that I have thought about before and maybe it's because I'm a little advanced in age (similar age of Questlove). Life experience is a mighty teacher if you are open to listening and learning. Questlove mentions a study about people being less creative when alert; people were more creative when they were less alert. That really hit me as I recalled a former drum teacher pointing out how our group played better after being pushed to exhaustion. I think it's not about being alert or exhausted, just being relaxed and open to whatever. I think that's where creativity truly exists -- when one stops trying and starts allowing things to happen. I highly recommend the audiobook. Questlove narrates it and he's a great storyteller, plus he includes musical examples of the things he talks about.

Probably 3.5, easy to read, interesting thoughts on the creative process generally with specific insights and ideas that work for Questlove.
