An interesting premise with a nice writing style, but spoiled by the fact that no one seems quite real and many, many plot threads are set up and then never resolved or mentioned ever again.

I’ve just finished the book and I’m asking myself what I think the book was about. The plot follows Pearl who works for a company that has created a machine that produces person specific plans for happiness.  But what was the real story? One of internal struggling with relationships romantic, familial and employment related.

I liked it but I felt like I kept waiting for something to happen, from the title I expected it to be more of a sci-fi “machines go bad” story but instead the consideration of the the consequences of the machine are largely left to the reader.
