I could not finish this book. The heroine was immature and grating.

This book is EVERYTHING. A funny, sweet, and spicy friends-to-lovers romance that had me hooked from page one. Mac and Freya are a perfect mix of awkward hilarity and swoon-worthy chemistry, and their story made my heart so full.

Freya is relatable AF—she’s plus-sized, sassy, and full of insecurities, but she’s also funny, talented, and just trying to figure out how to put herself out there. Enter Mac, her Scottish footballer best friend, who decides to give her “lessons” in seduction. Cue ALL the banter, awkward moments, and seriously hot tension.

Mac? Absolute dreamboat. Tattooed ginger, big-hearted, and hilariously overprotective. The way he’s so sweet and supportive of Freya, constantly building her up and making her feel beautiful? I MELT. But don’t worry—he also has his clueless moments that make you want to shake him.

What I loved:
- The body positivity! Freya’s journey to self-acceptance is so empowering, and Mac is a total cheerleader for her confidence.
- The banter. These two have such a natural friendship that makes their romance feel so real.
- The spice. Oh my gosh, the tension builds, and when they finally give in?

Cute book. I enjoyed their banter back and forth and her self depreciating humor. I also like that the author touched on the insecurities that women have and that nagging voice in the back of our heads.

3.5 stars - I wanted more showing of their relationship at the beginning beyond arguing and watching tv. It wasn’t clear to me that they were actually friends. And I didn’t quite buy him
trading himself to the Rangers without telling his friends.

I read this book because I needed a palette cleanser for my smutty high fantasy binge I'd been on. The heroine was ditzy and inexperienced verging on idiotic. Very corny, but I personally enjoyed the sex scenes. The MMC gaslights the FMC towards the end and I feel a little vindicated when she doesn't forgive him right away, but honestly would have loved for her to ACTUALLY sleep with someone else, not just lie about it. I don't understand the fascination with virgin FMCs and then keeping to one single man after the MMC says awful awful things. Blah.

I gave an extra star because the banter and comfort of the relationship reminded me of my own and I couldn't help but smile at times and I love cats as well.

Warning there is a pregnancy cliche in the epilogue. You can probably skip it.
