“I may be a monster, but if you cut me, I'll bleed. And if you break my heart, Pae, you'll break me. So, if even a sliver of your soul longs for mine, I'll spend the rest of my life trying to deserve it.”
I had a Powerless series week in July just after this was released. I bought the first book back in February and pre-ordered Reckless thinking I would have finished the first book before this was released. So there I was, having this book but have not finished the first one but no regrets because the first book was a slight cliff-hanger so when I found out this book started right after the first book ended, I died (although this book had a much more intense cliffhanger).
I love the chasing between the two main characters and you can definitely see how these two are prime enemies. The first book is simply seeing them two fall in love but this book, you'll see them fall in love on a deeper level because nobody is hiding anymore. So when you're cheering for them to just get together while they're chasing one another, you'll definitely swoon by the time they just let go and just fall.
The ending of this book is really intense so I'll definitely order as soon as it comes out!

This sequel to Powerless was a similarly fun read in the romantasy series, though I believe it suffered a bit from "second book syndrome."
The trials have ended, and Paedyn is running for her life. The princes who once considered themselves friends of Paedyn are now hunting her down. Kitt finds himself in charge of the kingdom and sends the Enforcer, his brother Kai, to find Paedyn and bring her to him alive.
Readers get a few small snippets from Kitt's perspective alongside Kai's and Paedyn's points of view. The game of cat-and-mouse between Paedyn and Kai plays out multiple times throughout this novel, and this does get old after a while. What doesn't get old is the romantic tension between the two. The banter and near misses are top notch.
Though Reckless wasn't a 5 star read for me, that ending left me reeling. I'm going to read the next book regardless, but I do hope to see more plot in the third installment of the trilogy.
