Paedyn has killed the king and set off a rebellion. Kitt has taken over as king after his father and his first task is to have his brother Kai - the Enforcer - find and capture Paedyn. She needs to pay for her crime.

There's not a lot of action in this book, like it was in the first, but it doesn't mean it isn't good. Paedyn manages to evade Kai for some time, but eventually she has to accept her fate and go with him - unless she wants to kill him. And despite trying to convince herself that she hates him, she just can't do it.

During their journey back to Ilya they both express contempt and scornful comments to each other, but since there's dual POV's we know how they actually fight against the attraction, trying to hate one another. But you can't control your feelings and I like how they open up to each other and risk being vulnerable. Reveals are being made and they both have to revalue their lifes. It will be very interesting to see how it develops in the last book.

We get some chapters from Kitt's POV, but I don't think it adds very much. His plan for Paedyn still comes as a surprise in the end (at least for me) and I'm still not sure how I feel about it.

okay, so. this wasn't good. at all 😭

it's just payden and kai walking through the dessert for 400 pages. really. nothing else happens. could've easily been a novella.

payden lets herself get caught so easily, even though she knows kai's supposed to kill her. she just seemed so lackluster, as did kai. i thought we'd get proper lovers to enemies here but they don't even try to be enemies.

it's constantly "i shouldn't like you but i do" to "i hate you" to "i'd die for you" and it's fun at first but gets boring very quickly.

the ending was wild, though, and i hope the next book will be better!

This is probably one of the best books I have ever read. I cried at the end for some reason. It's not really sad but it is if that makes sense. Also I would just like to say, I have been a Kitt hater since the beginning. I'm gonna go continue crying now.

This book was just fantastic! As if I need to love Kai even more. Just a wonderful character! How even are we going to be left with an ending like that though? Counting down the days to Fearless!
