This sequel was excellent. Mr. Alston, you better have #3 hidden behind your back, ready to go, because that ending had me screaming "whaaaaattttt?"

A strong entry to the series. It is definitely middle grade and definitely feels that way in plenty of the book. I was unable to figure out the mystery, but the clues are laid out well throughout the book. The relationships get more robust and the world gets a bit more full. Good entry overall.

woah, the fact the book ends with no resolution of the ogoing conflict took me by surprise.

I did really enjoy this as an audiobook reread--I maintain that this is a really strong second book in the series.
