Some essays were less my vibe than others but for the most part, Samantha Irby continues to be vulgar, unabashed, and unimpressed by life in general. She gives no fucks and it's great!
I especially appreciated the essays on "finding your soulmate" or a "life mate" - I agree that I don't think there's just one person for you in this big wide world, and I loved how Samantha basically said, "you shouldn't just get into a romantic relationship because that's what you think you should do. It is not a requirement. Don't do it if you don't want to and if you don't really like the person!" Like, being in a relationship can be *miserable* so why do it if you're not sold??? You don't have to! I promise!
Overall, another compilation of goofy essays, and I loved the audiobook!

I will say that I really liked how frank she was about more serious issues, while never veering too far off from her humorous style.

Irby is honest, raw and funny and I love her writing style. While she's writing about being in her late 30s, I can still relate so much to a lot of how she feels. I can imagine that her brutal honesty and openness may not be for everyone, but it worked for me. I loved her chapter on her step kids in particular. I don't know why that one in particular made me laugh, but her detailed description of making cheeseburger casserole just did me in.
I will always look forward to more from Irby.

Wow, No Thank You is the latest collection of essays from American comedian, Samantha Irby, exploring middle age, marriage, and her new bourgeois life.

Samantha Irby's self-deprecating humour is to the point, laugh-out-loud funny, honest, and relatable. This collection was a quick, easy read, yet I enjoyed some of the essays more than others. In fact, some of the essays were boring, repetitive, and at times felt like long-winded tangents unrelated to the actual story. in fact, it read a bit too much like a stream of consciousness than a cohesive set of essays.
I'm glad I picked this one up, but it likely won't stick with me down the road. If vulgar humour is not your thing, I would recommend skipping this one. And if you're planning to give it a shot, I'd recommend the audio which is read by the author.
