Wow, No Thank You. by Samantha Irby

funny medium-paced

4.0

I definitely liked this more than We're Never Meeting in Real Life and I think it's because Irby's style evolved with time, which made this book feel less dated. There were fewer essays in this book that were just about why Irby didn't like things and more about her life, which were the chapters I liked best in her last book.

Irby is honest, raw and funny and I love her writing style. While she's writing about being in her late 30s, I can still relate so much to a lot of how she feels. I can imagine that her brutal honesty and openness may not be for everyone, but it worked for me. I loved her chapter on her step kids in particular. I don't know why that one in particular made me laugh, but her detailed description of making cheeseburger casserole just did me in.

I will always look forward to more from Irby.
