Oh that was a good one. No spoilers, but I really like the way things were done.

I didn’t enjoy this one as much as Murder at the Vicarage, but it was still quite interesting enough. I think this one is more about plot than character-building (of course, this one is relatively short). Mind you, I’ve only read four Christie novels so far, two Miss Marple and two Poirot, but this one didn’t seem to have the connection among the characters that the others did. Miss Marple didn’t feature as prominently in this one as she did in the first one, and I just didn’t find myself able to relate to these characters as well. But overall, the plot was strong and there were enough leads to throw me off so that I wasn’t able to correctly guess “who dunnit.” This is not my favorite, by a long shot, but it was still a good read.

I liked this book! This one was way better than the first in the Miss Marple series. I could still use more Miss Marple in these novels, but in this one, people actually sought out her opinion and insights and her skill as an amateur detective was appreciated and relied upon. Besides that, I found this plot much more compelling than the first one. And I always love a little Jessica Fletcher-esque entrapment scheme to reveal a murderer’s identity. Like the Sherlock Holmes books, I enjoy that these novels hold back information so that it’s not actually possible for the reader to guess the culprit - it takes the pressure off!

Agatha Christie has done it again! She gave a mystery that had me guessing from beginning to end, and just when I thought I had figured it out, she threw a curve ball at me and showed me that I was ALMOST right, but still wrong. :) Mrs. Marple has always been my favorite Agatha Christie detective, and she didn't let me down in this book either. If you're looking for a good mystery to read and a real "page turner", Agatha Christie is the author to read. The only word I can think of to describe "The Body In The Library" is this: MASTERPIECE....but then again, that's what I use to describe ALL of the Queen of Crime's stories.

A book that I haven't read in decades! So glad my son and hubby picked it up for me. I loved Agatha Christie as a young reader and still do today.

I think I'd probably give the book a 2.5. It was contrived and Mrs. Marple needs someone to knock her down a peg or two but I read with a group of people and the experience was definitely 5 stars so that's how this book got a 3. If I'd read it by myself, instead of rounding up, I would have rounded down.

I think the best thing about Christie's writing is not simply the unexpected twists and turns but the attention to detail in creating a holistic picture of all characters. This particular book is a very good example.
