Much quicker read than I anticipated. Saw this on the library's website and picked it up on a whim. The storytelling is effective but it's the type of story I would like to see from someone who lived it or knew someone who did. This story coming from 2 Danish (?) authors seems odd to me, but otherwise it's an affecting story.

Beautiful and haunting — a simple depiction of the horrors of war.

Heart-breaking is the word for this book. It paints war and current life as futile, but sometimes, that's what it is.

the news broke last night that 30+ refugees died in the English channel in tragic, hideous, and entirely avoidable ways. It makes you wonder what this world has come to.
