I love coming back to this series. I feel like I finished it as soon as I started.

Sizzle and Burn is the fourth book in the Arcane Series by Jayne Ann Krentz.
Sizzle and Burn follows the story of Raine Tallentyre, a woman who helps the police part time with unsolved cases while owning a costume shop in Oriana Washington. The only family she had, after her father's car accident years before, was an aunt who died a month earlier while in a sanitarium. Raine fears she's heading down the same path of her aunt's because she hear's voices as well. It is only with the arrival of Zack Jones, does she realize that the psychic gift she has is not to be feared, but to be embraced.
Raine, despite feeling grateful that she isn't going insane, is untrustful of J&J as it was their agency that destroyed her father's science lab and led the family to be expelled from the Arcane Society. Even though she is dubious about Zack's arrival, there is a chemistry between the two individuals. They decide to help each other out because Raine wants to know more about her family history and Zack's case involving Nightshade is somehow connected to her family. Not only do they need to deal with a deadly cabal intent on producing dangerous potentially crazy jacked up psychics, but Raine is on the case of a murder dubbed the Bonfire Killer who happens to be after...witches.
Sizzle and Burn is a good addition to the Arcane Society series. It has romance, suspense, and mystery, it's a good weekend novel. The character's are interesting in that they have new abilities we have yet to see. Raine, after touching something after someone, can hear what they were thinking at the time. Zack Jones, shockingly not a hunter, could see visions and predict what an opponents next move. Although I'm glad they changed up the Jones character's ability, I did miss the hunter instincts.
The book was a little hard to plow through at times. The interest I had in the story waned off and on. It was a great ending and I was shockingly pleased to hear Zack's full name, Zachary Gabriel Jones. (I do miss Gabriel). I'm interested to know how this Jones character connects familially to the previous Jones in White Lies. I would enjoy seeing a crossing of characters later on in the series.
I'm eager to read the next book, this time by Amanda Quick so going back in time. I look forward to reading about Caleb Jones soon and would love to know more about the mysterious Fallon.

I'm always a fan of JAK and her Arcane Society Series. I also love the interaction between the two main characters.
