This book was soul crushing! I needed time to process this book and everything Eleanor went through, I finished this so heartbroken, so angry and wanting more! The twists were gut wrenching and shocking. Eleanor’s resilience throughout the book till the end was inspiring after all the horrors she faced. I think about her at least once a day, the way this book has a chokehold on me, it haunts me months after I finished it and I cannot wait to read Eleanor’s journal and the next book.

This is a dark, historical story be mindful of the warnings.

This book is beautifully crafted and one hell of a ride! I simply could not put it down! It's a heartbreaking tale of a woman surviving in a man's world. Not just bent on surviving but daring to hope in the midst of insane opposition.

I thought I had a good grasp on what was happening, but the depth of the betrayal kept unraveling to unprecedented heights. Note to anyone who wants to read this, do not read it at work! The ending had me in tears and I had to run to my car for a minute.

I was gripped by Eleanor's story early on. She is hell bent on surviving, and not only that, but hopes for a better future. She is one of the most resilient and strongest characters I've read in a very long time. She is wonderfully human and entirely relateable, which is rare to find in fantasy!

I am already on a second reread of this book, and I am anxiously awaiting a second book (hopefully).

Eleanor has been through so much crap, and then is forced to go through with an arranged marriage. Her father is a horrible human being, and could give a crap less about her. He sends her under guarded to the kingdom that will become her home, and she is attacked. She goes through some unspeakable things, but does finally arrive in her new kingdom. The king is dying, and the wedding should be done quickly. But that’s not how these things work out for her! She has feelings for her betrothed’s bother, and her betrothed is very jealous! This girl has to figure things out quick, but she keeps getting hit with one thing after another! I need to dive into the next book to see where this goes!

Absolutely loved being an ARC reader for this book. Took me a bit to process what i read before i wrote my review, but with that being said, this book was everything and more than i thought it would be. It is definitely a book that you can get lost in! So ready for book 2!!

I’m so honored to have received a copy of Glass and Bone early as an ARC reader.

This book was full of dark and mysterious twists and turns from the very beginning. Eleanor is an incredibly complex character who finds herself in the midst of truly vile evil. Unsure of who she can trust, her life becomes about survival.

I read this whole book in a matter of days because I simply couldn’t put it down. Cuico weaves an intricate narrative in a way that feels fantastical and yet darkly familiar. It’s like a fairytale gone wrong. I gasped, I cried, I threw my Kindle across the room. This was, without a doubt, one of the most emotional reads I’ve had in a while and I mean that in the absolute best way.

If you’re looking for an emotional roller coaster with characters you love to hate and a brand new world you can’t help but feel hungry to explore, check out Glass and Bone!

Purely SA with a side of convoluted plot.

I love me some dark fantasy romance but this was not it. It can honestly barely be considered romance or fantasy. Painfully boring FMC that somehow everyone is instantly in love with —I was at least hoping the weird infatuation everyone has with her would be explained by the very drawn out, pointless, and mildly ridiculous plot point that *spoilers* the girl who’s been having prophetic dreams and telepathically talks to another instantly obsessed man, is a witch.

This whole story feels so thrown together, messy, and honestly lazy. There are better books out there that deal with the trauma of SA.

This should have maybe stayed in the google docs.

This was my first time picking up a dark fantasy, having been immediately drawn in by the synopsis, and what an entry into the genre it was! From the start, Elaenor is an engaging character, daring to hope of a better future in a world which has shown her little kindness. As the story goes on she is dealt one blow after another, and yet she somehow finds the strength to keep fighting, and keep striving for that better future she so desperately longs for.

It is by no means an easy read, and the author has been careful to lay out the trigger warnings at the beginning so do make sure to pay attention to these, but it is so well written. At no point did I feel as though anything happened just for 'shock value' as can sometimes be the case - everything has a reason behind it, and the motivations of the characters carrying out those actions, whilst not justifiable, are clear.

Filled with characters who evoke one feeling or another, surprising plot twists and an ongoing mystery, I would definitely recommend this to fans of dark fantasy or those looking to venture into the genre and I cannot wait to see how the story continues in book 2!

Thank you to Celaena Cuico for allowing me to read and review an ARC of this book.

Glass and Bone is due for release on 3rd October and is currently available for pre-order.

This book was not for me. It had an enjoyable plot but a little to dark for my taste. Read the TWs
