Another beautiful offering from Peters, the thrilling and triumphant sequel to the heartbreak in The Falcon at the Portal. Nefret has learned her lesson about spilling beans without taking away from her character - she's grown up without losing the aspects of her character that I love.

Sethos is probably my favourite character in this whole series. His arc in this one is delightful. Ramses, Amelia, Emerson, David...they're all fabulous.

I love spending time in this world, and will always reach for them when I'm in need of comfort.

I'm amazed at how much fun these books are for me, even though I've been reading them out of order and thus have a lot of the reveals spoiled for me.

I spent the first half crying about David and the second crying about Ramses and Nefret tbh.

I had to skip Falcon at the Portal and will presumably return to it later, which should tell you something about how stressful that book is.

Nothing in this book is such a relief as when Nefret stabs Percy to death. NO MORE PERCY.

I really enjoyed the narrative of this story. There was a surprise at the end that I has not expected. These are characters that I appreciate revisiting. *I listened to audiobook
