He’s a (misogynistic) jerk to her when they first meet but he apologizes and then they become best friends. But when she tells him she loves him he can’t say it back but later describes it as her leaving him? They don’t talk for a year, during which he sleeps around. A lot. Then he just up and decides he wants her back and she mostly just goes along with it? I was expecting some Grade A groveling, not this take him right back b.s. Plus the virginal elementary school teacher who doesn’t cuss and always sees the bright side got old fast. Also she’s clumsy, because of course she is.

Wow what a great book this was! I know if i wouldnt have had to work I would have read this faster because it was so hard to put down!! Catherine is an amazing writer and I am so glad to have found her books!! I absolutely loved the relationship between Carter and Austin. I just felt so bad for Carter though so much throughout this book she could not catch a break!! I loved being able to go back & forth between both characters too. The ending was great and I like how it ended! Dont u hate though when a book is so good and you dont want it to end? That’s definitely how I felt about this one!!! Loved it!!!!

Genuinely forgettable. I literally forgot the plot and everything in it but since it didn’t evoke a strong negative emotion it didn’t score my lowest ranking. I’m just indifferent, which some could argue is worse

Further To Fall By Catherine Cowles (2020/06/08)
Rating 3/5 Stars
Disclaimer: All thoughts and opinions are my own.
TW: Assault
This is my first Catherine Cowles novel and I can't wait to read more of her work. This story follows Carter, a teacher and Austin who is an MMA fighter. I really liked Austin and Carter as the main characters. I liked how they formed a friendship once they sorted their issues out and that we were able to slowly see them fall for each other.

At times I felt that Carter was too innocent and naive especially with the events that happened throughout the story. I would have liked to see more of her character growth.

I really liked the secondary characters Taylor and Liam. I really appreciated Liam’s friendship with Carter and how the author portrayed that guys and girls can just be friends. Taylor was hilarious and I loved her and her friendship with Carter. At times, I felt frustrated with Carter's character because had she just communicated with Austin some of their issues could have easily been solved. I would have liked to see certain scenes flushed out and the ending seemed a bit rushed.

Overall, I really enjoyed this friends to lovers/Second chance story and I can’t wait to read more of this author's work.

Friends-to-Lovers with a hot MMA fighter, umm sign me up. The first half of this was fantastic, Austin and Carter’s friendship was adorable. The second half left a bit to be desired for me. I feel like I was reading two different books at times. The stalking storyline kinda seemed a bit out of place and some of events were a bit drama for dramas-sake for me. Overall an enjoyable read.

I think this author is new and after reading this book I will be looking out for further books depending on the direction she writes in, but I will definitely take a look.

The book is well written. Its a good premise for a story and lots of potential for secondary characters to have their own books.

Its a slow burn. Best friends to lovers romance.

Austin is loyal, protective hard
working and total 'Alpha' but he is also scarred by a really bad experience with an ex.
Carter is best friends from childhood with Liam (no romantic feelings on either side) so she comes into association with Austin via Liam.

At first Austin takes an instant dislike upon laying eyes on Carter, jumping to conclusions based on his past experience and her outfit.
Austin doesn't do relationships, he is totally focused on his career within MMA, when he needs a woman he finds one.
Carter is a virgin, possibly only had one boyfriend.

Carter has been friend zoned by Austin but they are very close.
Austin messes up, Carter walks in on her flat mate undoing his zipper. He is very drunk and there is no more detail to the scene at that point but it's her friend so he crosses a line here.

There is a time of separation, during this time, she tries to date but isn't physical with anyone, he wakes up with random groupies.

There are no details of the scenes with him with other women but I know some readers don't like the Hero to be with anyone other than the heroine after meeting so this will go against that.

She gives in a bit too quick for me, she does make him work for it but I would have liked a bit more.

HEA.

Epilogue.

There is a note at the end that the best friend will have a book soon.

This book was amazing! But it surprised me because rarely I like the first half of a book more than I love the second. It’s usually the other way around since normally books get more intriguing and fast-paced later on.

I feel like once the characters got together officially that last 20% or so was a bit lackluster for me. Of course I still read on because I loved these characters.

Here I liked more the whole setup of the characters knowing each other, becoming friends and developing feelings.

Literal enemies to friends to lovers ❤️
