I've never read such an amazing first novel from an author before. Catherine captures the characters so well. You will be right there with Carter and Austin the whole story

I think this author is new and after reading this book I will be looking out for further books depending on the direction she writes in, but I will definitely take a look.

The book is well written. Its a good premise for a story and lots of potential for secondary characters to have their own books.

Its a slow burn. Best friends to lovers romance.

Austin is loyal, protective hard
working and total 'Alpha' but he is also scarred by a really bad experience with an ex.
Carter is best friends from childhood with Liam (no romantic feelings on either side) so she comes into association with Austin via Liam.

At first Austin takes an instant dislike upon laying eyes on Carter, jumping to conclusions based on his past experience and her outfit.
Austin doesn't do relationships, he is totally focused on his career within MMA, when he needs a woman he finds one.
Carter is a virgin, possibly only had one boyfriend.

Carter has been friend zoned by Austin but they are very close.
Austin messes up, Carter walks in on her flat mate undoing his zipper. He is very drunk and there is no more detail to the scene at that point but it's her friend so he crosses a line here.

There is a time of separation, during this time, she tries to date but isn't physical with anyone, he wakes up with random groupies.

There are no details of the scenes with him with other women but I know some readers don't like the Hero to be with anyone other than the heroine after meeting so this will go against that.

She gives in a bit too quick for me, she does make him work for it but I would have liked a bit more.

HEA.

Epilogue.

There is a note at the end that the best friend will have a book soon.

Wow what a great book this was! I know if i wouldnt have had to work I would have read this faster because it was so hard to put down!! Catherine is an amazing writer and I am so glad to have found her books!! I absolutely loved the relationship between Carter and Austin. I just felt so bad for Carter though so much throughout this book she could not catch a break!! I loved being able to go back & forth between both characters too. The ending was great and I like how it ended! Dont u hate though when a book is so good and you dont want it to end? Thatā€™s definitely how I felt about this one!!! Loved it!!!!

I absolutely loved this book. One of the parts that was my favorite aspect was that it takes place over years so itā€™s not quick romance but really goes through Austin and Carterā€™s whole friendship to lovers story.
Carter is sweet with a stubborn streak and a little bit of a spitfire personality and has been best friends with Liam forever and now they both are in LA. Austin is a MMA fighter and is broody as they come, he is a man scorned and now is a commitaphobe and has best friends with Liam since Liam moved out to LA. Austin starts off with a terrible impression on Carter and tries to fix it to appease Liam. From there a friendship starts and they become inseparable best friends then after one bad encounter they stop talking and the friendship ends, then they finally give each other a chance and they both decide a relationship is worth the effort. There is action, suspense, game, groupies, sketchy guys and so on. I could not soak this book up enough and I already plan to read it again soon because I loved it so much.

I read this book after reading the entire Sutter Lake Series. I fell in love with that world and devoured the books quickly. So I knew Austin and Carter already from Beautifully Broken Pieces. I wanted their story so bad, so I was super excited when I found out that they had a book! At first I wasnā€™t so so sure I was going to continue to love Austin as much as I did. Catherine has a way with words that just suck you in and you feel all the emotions that the characters are going through. In the end Austin totally redeemed himself. This book like all the rest sucked me in from the very beginning and I didnā€™t want to put it down! You get an emotional driven love story with suspense. I would highly recommend this book!

Further to Fall by Catherine cowles

This was such an amazing debut! We had everything in this book! From drama and suspense then some really cute moments! I enjoyed everything about this story. Iā€™m a sucker for the ones where the guy becomes over protective of the girl because sheā€™s in danger.
She just couldnā€™t catch and break and we could tell how it was all taking a toll on her. But he was there for her and just gave her someone to lean on and to trust!
Blue was awesome, Austin was amazing and Carter was so sweet!
I always enjoy the damsel in distress books, even if the female is a strong character.
I highly recommend this story if youā€™re looking for something quick, suspenseful and cute!

Thank you so much Catherine for the arc!

Further To Fall By Catherine Cowles (2020/06/08)
Rating 3/5 Stars
Disclaimer: All thoughts and opinions are my own.
TW: Assault
This is my first Catherine Cowles novel and I can't wait to read more of her work. This story follows Carter, a teacher and Austin who is an MMA fighter. I really liked Austin and Carter as the main characters. I liked how they formed a friendship once they sorted their issues out and that we were able to slowly see them fall for each other.

At times I felt that Carter was too innocent and naive especially with the events that happened throughout the story. I would have liked to see more of her character growth.

I really liked the secondary characters Taylor and Liam. I really appreciated Liamā€™s friendship with Carter and how the author portrayed that guys and girls can just be friends. Taylor was hilarious and I loved her and her friendship with Carter. At times, I felt frustrated with Carter's character because had she just communicated with Austin some of their issues could have easily been solved. I would have liked to see certain scenes flushed out and the ending seemed a bit rushed.

Overall, I really enjoyed this friends to lovers/Second chance story and I canā€™t wait to read more of this author's work.

The book started out so well for me. Carter as the innocent school teacher, getting best buddies with MMA fighter Austin. I enjoyed their friendship, knowing they both felt more.

But then.... It all went to beep. I hated the fact he slept with others while she was crying her eyes out and stayed a virgin. I disliked the time it took for them to get together. Really, that long? And Carter had not changed at all and still was the same wide eyed naive girl.
The drama that overflowed the second half of the book made me roll my eyes. Drama drama drama.

The writing was actually quite good and I finished the book. But the great friends-to-lovers it could have been got lost somewhere. Hope the author will learn to rein in the OTT and keep it simple and original.
